Job Description

The Associate Producer (part-time) is responsible for contributing story ideas; writing stories; organizing them within an energetic and memorable newscast or digital content for the web. WJBF in Augusta, GA is looking for a part-time Associate Producer. This person will be responsible for editing newscasts. Must be able to work weekday and weekend afternoons and evenings.   • Organizes and strings together raw footage into a continuous whole according to scripts or instructions for newscasts and other programming
  • Trims recorded segments to specified lengths and reassembles segments into sequences that present stories with maximum effect
  • Determines the specific audio and visual effects necessary to complete stories.
  • Help Review scripts and graphics to make sure there are no spelling errors
  • Help Run Prompter when necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, TV/film or equivalent experience may substitute
  • Understand brand building directives
  • Interact well with video journalists, anchors, videographers, news managers, production, digital and engineering staff
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent verbal, written, grammar and analytical skills
  • Ability to develop strong news judgment
  • Possess journalistic integrity and understanding of viewer needs and expectations
  • Knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods, including alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media
  • Ability to meet quality standards for service & evaluate customer satisfaction
