Job Summary
KXRM-TV FOX21 in Colorado Springs is seeking a Newscast Director for its morning newscast and Lifestyle show. The role involves coordinating technical operations, observing video/graphics for quality, liaising between News and Engineering, and working with producers and talent to deliver high-energy broadcasts. The director must be able to work under pressure, make quick decisions, switch video sources, give directions during live broadcasts, and adjust robotic cameras, graphics engines, and audio consoles as needed. This position also assists with show graphics.
Must Have
- Coordinates the technical operation of the studio during newscasts and other productions
- Observes video/graphics through monitors, verifies quality and accuracy real time
- Acts as a liaison on technical matters between the News and Engineering departments
- Works with the producers and talent to deliver a quality high energy newscast
- Switches video sources and gives direction at the same time during live broadcasts
- Adjusts robotic cameras, graphics engines, and audio console when needed
- Tests equipment to ensure proper operation
- High school diploma
- Fluency in English
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Two years’ + experience in news operations and production
- Knowledge of Ross OverDrive and Xpression
- Proficiency with broadcast control equipment
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Helps with graphics for the shows
Good to Have
- Knowledge of AP ENPS
- Knowledge of Ross robotic cameras
- Knowledge of Adobe Premiere

Requirements & Skills:
- High school diploma
- Fluency in English
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Two years’ + experience in news operations and production. (Depending on market size)
- Knowledge of Ross OverDrive and Xpression
- Knowledge of AP ENPS, Ross robotic cameras, Adobe Premiere is a plus
- Proficiency with broadcast control equipment

Compensation
- Compensation range from $19.23/hr + commensurate with experience and skill level.
