The North America Logistics Sourcing Leader will lead logistics activities for North American business units, including Freight Components, Transit, and Digital. Responsibilities include financial analysis, budget setting, spend/savings forecasting, rate negotiations, and carrier development, along with handling day-to-day operational issues across all transportation modes, storage, and warehousing. This role involves strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and ensuring compliance with corporate logistics processes. The leader will also be involved in developing and implementing cost-saving ideas through various projects.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or Advanced degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Logistics/Freight Forwarding.
  • Knowledge of domestic, international ocean, and air procurement.
  • Operational knowledge in moving heavy weight air, truck, parcel, and ocean.
  • Experience in supplier development, supplier relationship management, and KPI management.
  • Strong analytical skills (costs/financial, spend, supply market, etc.).
  • Demonstrated project or program management experience.
  • Experience in strategy development and execution.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and communications skills.
Good to have:
  • Logistics Services or Category management experience is a plus.

Who will you be working with?
Wabtec’s Global Indirect Team manages the procurement of goods and services that support daily operations for the organization. The Indirect Sourcing team works to optimize supplier performance, reduce costs, ensure compliance, and support internal stakeholders across Wabtec.


How will you make a difference? 
The North America Logistics Sourcing Leader will lead the logistics activities for the North American business units, including Freight Components, Transit, and Digital. The Logistics Leader will oversee cross-functional teams in strategic sourcing projects to generate savings, operational efficiencies, supplier relationships, and Business Unit compliance in corporate logistics processes. Responsibilities include ongoing financial analysis, budget setting, continual spend/savings forecasting, rate negotiations, and carrier development, as well as handling day-to-day operational issues with all modes of transportation, storage, and warehousing.


What do we want to know about you? 

Bachelor’s degree or Advanced degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field

•    Minimum 5 years’ experience in Logistics/Freight Forwarding 

•    Knowledge of domestic, international ocean, and air procurement 

•    Operational knowledge in moving heavy weight air, truck, parcel, and ocean. 

•    Border Drayage Carrier experience (Mexico/Canada) 

•    Parcel small pack experience 

•    Experience in supplier development, supplier relationship management, KPI, and performance management 

•    Demonstrated ability to lead supplier evaluation, selection, negotiation, contracting, and implementation. 

•    Strong analytical skills (costs/financial, spend, supply market, etc.) 

•    Demonstrated project or program management experience. 

•    Experience in strategy development and execution 

•    Logistics Services or Category management experience is a plus. 

•    Demonstrated problem solving and communications skills.

What will your typical day look like? 
•    Conduct financial analysis of all North American business unit regarding savings, budget setting, and strategic planning.
•    Track monthly savings by mode for each business unit and record in the cost savings tool.
•    Forecast savings and participate in alignment calls on forecast-to-budget savings monthly.
•    Develop and implement cost-saving ideas through projects, rate improvements, carrier changes, etc.
•    Routinely communicate with the Bus, developing an Operating Management System to keep communication lines open
•    Assist in resolving day-to-day logistics issues for business units. 
•    Manage and interact with 3PLs to enhance operations and savings forecasts.
•    Build and manage supplier relationships to increase service levels and savings opportunities. 
•    I am participating in contract management for carriers, warehousing, and other providers.
•    Manage carrier performance reporting for all modes.
•    Attend GSA country negotiations with carriers. 
•    Generate timely and accurate reporting on progress towards objectives. 
•    Lead BUs to operate compliantly and align them with the long-term logistics strategy. 
•    Negotiate shipping rates with product carriers.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between

$89,100.00-$126,900.00

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include an annual bonus, if eligible.
