Job Description

As a Sustainability Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring that the facility operates in alignment with sustainable practices. CookUnity, founded in 2018, connects the world with chefs, delivering 35 million meals annually. This role involves overseeing waste management, ensuring compliance with sustainability audits, leading employee training, collaborating with leaders, and driving continuous improvement in sustainable solutions, all to empower chefs and nourish the world.
Must have:
  • Oversee waste sorting and disposal procedures for zero-waste goals.
  • Coordinate with waste management partners for collection, recycling, and composting.
  • Track and analyze waste data, identifying improvement areas.
  • Participate and take action in sustainability audits.
  • Implement corrective actions based on audit findings.
  • Maintain documentation and reports for certification.
  • Organize and lead sustainability training sessions for employees and chef teams.
  • Encourage compliance with sustainable practices.
  • Work with the sustainability team to implement training programs.
  • Lead by example, promoting environmental responsibility.
  • Work closely with the Sustainability Leader to align objectives.
  • Provide regular updates on sustainability progress and initiatives.
  • Identify and implement new sustainable solutions for food waste reduction.
  • Work with partners and respond to necessary documentation.
  • Participate in and lead corrective actions related to sustainability audits.
  • Address deviations and implement solutions to maintain compliance.
  • Ensure daily sustainability tasks are completed efficiently by the team.

Job Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  • 1. Waste Management & Zero Waste Implementation
  • Oversee waste sorting and disposal procedures to ensure compliance with zero-waste goals.
  • Coordinate with waste management partners to ensure proper collection, recycling, and composting.
  • Track and analyze waste data, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • 2. Compliance & Audit Preparation.
  • Responsible for participating and taking action in the sustainability audits.
  • Implement corrective actions based on audit findings.
  • Maintain documentation and reports required for certification.
  • 3. Training & Employee Engagement
  • Organize and lead sustainability training sessions for employees and chef teams.
  • Encourage all employees to respect and comply with sustainable practices.
  • Work with the sustainability team to implement training programs.
  • Lead by example, promoting a culture of environmental responsibility.
  • 4. Collaboration & Reporting
  • Work closely with the Sustainability Leader to align objectives and implement best practices.
  • Provide regular updates on sustainability progress and key initiatives.
  • 5. Continuous Improvement & Innovation
  • Identify and implement new sustainable solutions for food waste reduction.
  • Work with partners and respond to the necessary documentation..
  • 6. Corrective Actions & Issue Resolution
  • Participate in and lead corrective actions related to sustainability audits.
  • Address deviations from sustainability procedures and implement solutions to maintain compliance.
  • Ensure daily tasks related to sustainability are completed efficiently by the team.

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years experience in a supervisor role.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Supervisory and training skills.
  • Understanding and awareness of Latino and American cultures.
  • Hands-on, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to take ownership, improve processes, and enhance results.
  • Bilingual – Spanish and English (mainly spoken).
  • Basic knowledge of Google Drive Products.

Compensation

All final pay rates will be determined by candidates experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

Pay Range for this position

$19 - $22 USD
