Job Description

Pico, a leading VR company, seeks an Optical Scientist to design and develop next-generation display optics systems for AR and MR products. Responsibilities include exploring new technologies, designing and prototyping optical components, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and defining productization roadmaps. The ideal candidate possesses a PhD in Optical Engineering or a related field, experience in AR/MR optical system design and prototyping, proficiency in optical design software (Zemax, Code V, etc.), and experience with scientific programming languages (MATLAB, Python, C++). The role involves working on the development and leadership of new optical module development for Pico products.

We have teams in Northern America, Europe, Japan and South Korea. We are looking for a creative Optical Systems Engineer to join us to build our AR/VR display optics system team, to develop and lead new optical module development for Pico products. Optical System Scientists specializing in Augmented Reality (AR) display systems are integral to the development of advanced optical technologies that enhance user experiences. Responsibilities - Explore and develop the next generation of display optics systems for AR and MR products. - Explore and evaluate new technologies with the potential of improving optical and system performance. - Conceptual design and prototyping of advanced display optics components and systems to demonstrate improvement in performance. - Work across engineering, product, and other cross-functional teams to define, simulate, develop, and realize a variety of optical systems. - Work with internal and external partners to develop productization roadmap and strategies for advanced technologies.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: - PhD degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience. - Experience in designing and prototyping optical systems for AR/MR applications. - Experience in optical design software (e.g. Zemax, Code V, LightTool, etc.). - Experience in scientific programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, C++ or similar. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience communicating and collaborating in a cross-functional team environment. - 3+ years of industry experience working on near eye display systems development. 【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $184300 - $260000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
