The Paralegal will support World Relief Western Washington’s Immigration Legal Services (ILS) team, assisting attorneys and accredited representatives with legal orientations, referrals, case preparation, and filing. This role involves client intakes, drafting immigration applications, maintaining case files, client communication, and administrative support, ensuring compliance with ethical standards. The position is critical for delivering direct legal services to immigrant and refugee clients, requiring technical accuracy, cultural humility, and client-centered advocacy. It is a limited-term, full-time hybrid position funded through June 2026.
Good To Have:
  • Fluency in one or more languages other than English is strongly preferred.
  • Prior nonprofit immigration legal services or law office experience.
  • Previous experience with Immigration Case Management System Equifax (LawLogics).
  • Experience working with clients impacted by trauma, displacement, or systemic barriers.
Must Have:
  • Conduct client intakes, eligibility screenings, and follow-up.
  • Provide administrative support to attorneys and DOJ Accredited Representatives.
  • Draft and prepare immigration applications, petitions, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files, ensuring compliance with standards and deadlines.
  • Assist clients in understanding legal processes and provide social service referrals.
  • Assist with legal workshops, community outreach, and education events.
  • Uphold confidentiality, cultural humility, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Mature and personal Christian faith; commitment to World Relief's mission and values.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in law, social services, or related field.
  • Experience in immigration law, nonprofit legal services, or case management.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and administrative experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database/case management systems.
  • Ability to work with diverse cultural, racial, religious, and language backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Up to 25% domestic travel required.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Paralegal will play a critical role in Western Washington’s growing Immigration Legal Services (ILS) team. The Paralegal will assist immigration attorneys and accredited representatives with conducting legal orientations, legal referrals, case preparation, and case filing. The Immigration Paralegal supports attorneys and DOJ Accredited Representatives in delivering direct legal services to immigrant and refugee clients. This position requires a balance of technical accuracy, cultural humility, and commitment to client-centered advocacy. The Paralegal will assist with case preparation, client communication, and administrative support while maintaining compliance with ethical and professional standards. This position is funded through June 2026. The position may be extended.

This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until June 30th, 2026 and contingent upon funding extension.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct client intakes, eligibility screenings, and follow-up communication.
  • Provide administrative support to attorneys and DOJ Accredited Representatives during case preparation, interviews, and hearings.
  • Draft and prepare immigration applications, petitions, affidavits, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files, ensuring compliance with agency standards, grant requirements, and deadlines.
  • Assist clients in understanding legal processes in plain language.
  • Provide referrals for social services and community resources as needed.
  • Assist with legal workshops, community outreach, and education events.
  • Uphold confidentiality, cultural humility, and trauma-informed practices in all interactions.

  • Experience in immigration law, nonprofit legal services, or case management.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and administrative experience in an office setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database/case management systems.
  • Accurate data entry skills
  • Highly organized with skills in coordinating and implementing various components of a project, ensuring objectives are met.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from a wide range of cultural, racial, religious and language backgrounds.
  • Ability to work both independently with minimum supervision, and in collaboration with others.
  • A desire to serve immigrants and refugees in support of the mission and vision of.
