Job Description

The Payroll SME role is a fixed-term contract for 12 months. The main purpose of the role is to provide accurate and timely support for the payroll process for the UK. The responsibilities include processing end-to-end monthly payroll, updating and maintaining payroll records, processing variable wage components, handling allowances and deductions, processing monthly and yearly reporting, dealing with financial controls, and providing excellent service to employees. This role requires an international team member to coordinate processes for 35 countries within EMEA region. It also involves addressing employee queries and implementing continuous improvements. The role is based on hybrid work.
Must have:
  • Demonstrated payroll processing experience.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a related field.
  • Very good command of English is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of payroll legislations and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong data entry skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines.
Good to have:
  • Experience in UK Payroll.
  • Experience on payroll changes projects.
  • Customer service and team oriented approach.
  • Knowledge of Workday or other payroll systems.

Payroll SME (fixed- term contract)

The main purpose of the role is to provide accurate and timely support for payroll process. You will be a part of an international team, coordinating processes for 35 countries within EMEA region.

In this role you will…   

  • Process end-to-end monthly payroll for the UK (vendor-managed)

  • Deliver timely and accurate payroll results aligned to Haleon global payroll standards and framework.  

  • Update and maintain payroll records (Joiners/Leavers/Changes) and payroll master data. 

  • Import/export payroll interface files  

  • Process all variable wage components like hours, bonuses, provision, capture of holidays, etc.  

  • Process payroll related allowances and deductions, delivering yearly bonus and merit cycle.  

  • Process payroll monthly and yearly reporting (with Tax Office, Pension Fund), provide input for Finance teams.  

  • Deal with financial controls, incl. SOX and operational controls maintained at a local country level, internal and external audits. 

  • Deliver on-time excellent service to Employees and stakeholders.  

  • Be a point of escalations for pay related employee queries.   

  • Implement continues improvements within functional area of payroll process.  

Why you?   

Qualifications & Skills:  

  • Demonstrated payroll processing experience.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in HR, Finance, Accounting, or related field. 

  • Very good command of English is mandatory. Knowledge of any other EMEA region language would be an asset. 

  • Knowledge of payroll legislations and processes, understanding of international assignees’ payroll is required. 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 

  • Attention to detail, numerical ability, and strong data entry skills. 

  • Ability to work autonomously and within respect of deadlines. 

  • Focus on continuous improvement in payroll and HR administration processes.  

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:   

  • Experience in UK Payroll

  • Experience on payroll changes projects  

  • Customer service- and team-oriented approach and good organizational skills   

  • Knowledge of Workday, any payroll system
