Apple Inc is seeking a Physical Design Engineer to be responsible for the physical design and implementation of partitions for processors and system-on-chip (SoC). The role involves working closely with the logic design team to understand partition architecture and drive physical aspects early in the design cycle. Key responsibilities include completing netlist to GDS2 implementation, timing, physical, and electrical verification, and driving signoff closure. The engineer will also resolve design and flow issues, identify potential solutions, and manufacture chips from netlist to tape-out. This includes performing floorplanning, placement, clocking, and routing for optimal PPA, driving best-in-class PD construction and optimization, and collaborating on methodologies and best practices. The role requires optimizing for high frequency, power-sensitive designs, and achieving the smallest area. The engineer will also oversee and resolve design and flow issues related to physical design and ensure design closure across various analysis disciplines. Collaboration with top-level teams for smooth integration and providing feedback to the FE team for synthesis recipe updates are also crucial. This is a full-time, on-site position.
