Flying Bark Productions, an animation studio known for projects like "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and "Ghostbusters," is seeking a Pipeline Release Manager. This role involves owning the Release Management lifecycle, implementing and managing code release processes across development, test, and production environments. Responsibilities include developing release processes, collaborating with project managers and production teams to meet release criteria, identifying and mitigating risks, gathering stakeholder feedback for continuous improvement, monitoring deployment environments, documenting release notes, and acting as the primary point of contact during release activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in release management, software development methodologies, and CI/CD tools.
Must have:

Job Details

Flying Bark Productions is a dynamic and innovative animation studio dedicated to pushing the boundaries of character animation and storytelling. We are working on exciting projects such as Avatar: The Last Airbender feature film, Netflix's Ghostbusters animated series and Stranger Things animated series, as well as our production Tales From Outer Suburbia by Shaun Tan. 


The Pipeline Release Manager collaborates with the Pipeline team and Productions to own the Release Management lifecycle, including implementing and managing the release processes for code throughout development, test, and production environments. 


About the role:

  • Develop and maintain a release management process that ensures successful deployment of pipeline code;
  • Collaborate with Pipeline Project Manager to ensure timely delivery of updates based on development plans;
  • Collaborate with pipeline team and production side users to ensure all release criteria are met, including functionality and performance
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks, ensuring issues are addressed proactively and do not impact release times;
  • Oversee post-release to gather feedback from stakeholders, facilitating continuous improvements;
  • Monitor and maintain deployment environments, ensuring compatibility with upcoming releases;
  • Document and disperse release notes to Production and CG Supervisors;
  • Act as the primary point of contact during release activities, coordinating efforts to resolve issues where needed


About you:

  • 3+ years of experience in release management or a related role within software development or IT operations;
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile practices;
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multiple departments and stakeholders;
  • Familiarity with version control systems, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools, and release automation technologies;
  • Ability to analyze data and metrics to assess release performance and identify areas for improvement;
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving abilities to address challenges that arise;
  • Proficiency in risk management and mitigation strategies to ensure seamless release;
  • Experience with environment management software Jenkins, Git, and Rez
  • Animated Feature Films, TV Series and VFX production experience
  • Experience in scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python) to support automation and troubleshooting during releases
