Job Summary

Sika is looking for an experienced Plant Engineering Manager to join its growing team in the Houston, TX area for our roofing business. The Plant Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading and developing the site’s Engineering and Maintenance functions to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This critical role drives equipment reliability, process improvement, and capital execution, all essential to support production goals and long-term site growth within the company.

Must Have

  • Lead and coach a multidisciplinary team
  • Ensure reliable and safe operation of all production and utility systems through effective maintenance and engineering practices
  • Develop and execute the site’s reliability and Lean improvement strategy
  • Apply Lean tools and methodologies (5S, SMED, Kaizen, visual management)
  • Oversee process engineering activities to optimize equipment performance, reduce downtime, and improve product quality and throughput
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in plant engineering and maintenance leadership
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams
  • Managing complex capital projects

Good to Have

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering
  • Experience in plastics, roofing, or continuous process manufacturing

Sika is looking for an experienced Plant Engineering Manager to join its growing team in the Houston, TX area for our roofing business. The Plant Engineering Manager will be repsonsible for leading and developing the site’s Engineering and Maintenance functions to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This role drives equipment reliability, process improvement, and capital execution to support production goals and long-term site growth.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coach a multidisciplinary team including Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Planner, Instrumentation & Controls Engineer, Process Engineer, and Facilities Manager.
  • Ensure reliable and safe operation of all production and utility systems through effective maintenance and engineering practices.
  • Develop and execute the site’s reliability and Lean improvement strategy, emphasizing waste elimination, value stream optimization, and proactive maintenance.
  • Apply Lean tools and methodologies (5S, SMED, Kaizen, visual management) to enhance equipment uptime, reduce changeover time, and improve process flow.
  • Oversee process engineering activities to optimize equipment performance, reduce downtime, and improve product quality and throughput.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in plant engineering and maintenance leadership, preferably in plastics, roofing, or continuous process manufacturing.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex capital projects.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance reliability practices, process engineering, and utilities management.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results through collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills.
