They will collaborate with domain experts to support engineering workflows, including assemblies, constraints, and tolerances. Position Overview
 

We are seeking a technically exceptional and visionary Principal Software Engineer to lead the development of our next-generation cloud-based CAD platform. This role is ideal for someone who combines deep software engineering expertise with a strong foundation in mechanical engineering, linear algebra, and CAD workflows, particularly with experience in Autodesk Inventor and/or Fusion 360. Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) and Qt is a strong plus.

You’ll play a key role in shaping the architecture, performance, and user experience of a platform that empowers engineers and designers to innovate in the cloud. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our Bangalore-based scrum team. 

Responsibilities
 

  • Architect Cloud Solutions: Design and implement scalable, cloud-native systems for 3D modelling, simulation, and real-time collaboration

  • Lead Engineering Teams: Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering teams across the product lifecycle

  • CAD Expertise: Apply your knowledge of Inventor and/or Fusion 360 to inform product design, interoperability, and user experience

  • Mechanical Engineering Insight: Collaborate with domain experts to ensure the platform supports real-world engineering workflows, including assemblies, constraints, and tolerances

  • Mathematical Rigor: Apply linear algebra concepts to support 3D transformations, geometry processing, and simulation features

  • Performance Optimization: Solve complex challenges in 3D rendering, geometry computation, and distributed systems

  • Quality and Reliability: Champion best practices in software development, testing, and continuous integration/deployment

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

  • 10+ years of software development experience, with at least 3 years in a principal or staff-level role

  • Strong C++ and Data Structures, Object Oriented Programming, Design Patterns, Computer Science fundamentals

  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern backend architectures

  • Deep understanding of 3D graphics, computational geometry, and linear algebra.

  • Experience with Qt for desktop application development

  • Familiarity with WebGL/WebGPU and modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Svelte)

Preferred Qualifications
 

  • Background in mechanical engineering or experience working closely with mechanical design teams

  • Hands-on experience with Autodesk Inventor and/or Fusion 360, including APIs and data formats

  • Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) concepts and integration with CAD tools

  • Experience with collaborative editing technologies (e.g., CRDTs, OT)

  • Contributions to open-source CAD or simulation projects

  • Experience with Autodesk Forge or similar cloud-based CAD platforms
