Principal SW QA Engineer

Gigamon is seeking a Principal QA Engineer for their cloud Testing Team. This role demands extensive experience in Network/Security Product Testing, Cloud, and Test Automation. The Principal Engineer will provide technical leadership, develop test strategies, understand product architecture, and drive automation for functional, cloud scale, and stress testing. Key responsibilities include interfacing with Product Management, reviewing deliverables, and leading quality initiatives to ensure product quality and customer satisfaction.

Must Have

• Provide Process and Technical Leadership in developing Test Strategies and plans.
• Understand Product architecture and its implications on feature and system testing.
• Bring innovation and expertise to advance automation of Functional, cloud scale and Stress Testing.
• Interface with Product Management and Architects team to ensure requirements compliance.
• Review major deliverables to ensure product quality and ensure quality delivery to Customer.
• Lead horizontal quality initiatives in problem resolution and process improvement activities.
• Utilize quality measures and metrics to drive the team towards technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Good to Have

• Good knowledge about disruptive networking technologies like SDN / NFV.
• MS strongly preferred.

Description

Gigamon is seeking a Principal QA Engineer in the cloud Testing Team. Principal Engineer represents the technical leadership within the QA organisation. The candidate should have extensive experience Network/Security Product Testing, Cloud and proficiency in Test Automation. Responsible to test and qualify highly scalable and robust Visibility solution and provide technical guidance to the team. The suitable candidate should have strong technical background in Networking/Security and/or cloud domain.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Provide Process and Technical Leadership in the development of Test Strategies and plans across the Gigamon Visibility products for private cloud packet monitoring, operational use cases in private cloud and cloud networking to provide Enterprise/cloud/Hybrid security.
• Understand Product architecture and its implications on feature and system testing
• Bring innovation, creativity and track record of expertise to advance our commitment to Automation of Functional, cloud scale and Stress Testing
• Interface with the Product Management and other Architects team to ensure requirements compliance, determine release readiness and triage defects discovered in the field
• Review major deliverables to ensure product quality and ensure quality delivery to Customer
• Lead horizontal (multi-functional teams – Engineers from Functional, System Test, Performance team) quality initiatives in problem resolution and process improvement activities with emphasis on lean process
• Utilize quality measures and metrics to drive the team towards technical excellence and continuous improvement

Qualification:

• 15-20 years (or more) of overall relevant industry experience and a track record of shipping core-networking products for the enterprise and service provider markets
• At least 3-5 years of experience as a Test Architect leading the QA of private cloud software products
• At least 3-5 years experience in testing software products in Vmware and/or Nutanix platforms.
• Experience with designing and testing complex system/infrastructure software for Network Security technologies
• In-depth knowledge of customer deployment and maintenance use cases in private cloud and deep domain knowledge of private cloud capabilities
• Proficient in cloud and networking concepts.
• Good knowledge about disruptive networking technologies like SDN / NFV is a big advantage
• Knowledge of Enterprise/Service Provider Network Security Deployment Frameworks
• Familiar with any of the Test Automation Frameworks (Robot, PyATS, TestNG), Programming Language (Python, Unix Scripting), Traffic Generation Tools
• Deep understanding of full product life cycle, software development methods (both Agile and Waterfall), and System Testing Life Cycle
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, listening, and written communication skills, both within the team and across the organization
• Ability to mentor/coach/teach/facilitate and lead change in a highly technical/dynamic team
• BS in CS or EE, MS strongly preferred
