The Production Manager will ensure the execution of daily production operations by leading teams, sustaining lean systems, and driving cross-functional alignment to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives in support of company strategy and customer satisfaction. This position will work onsite at the Liverpool, NY location and report to the Director of Production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operational Execution:
- Lead daily production operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets across assigned product lines.
- Own production scheduling, staffing allocation, labor planning, and daily throughput management.
- Monitor real-time KPIs and production dashboards; proactively remove bottlenecks and escalate barriers with data-driven recommendations.
- Ensure adherence to standard work, process stability, and takt-based production flow.
- Leadership & People Development:
- Coach and develop supervisors and team leads in Leader Standard Work, Gemba leadership, and problem-solving behaviors.
- Build a high-performance culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous learning.
- Foster talent development and succession planning within production teams.
- Provide leadership presence across all shifts to ensure alignment and execution continuity.
- Lean Systems & Continuous Improvement:
- Sustain and continuously improve daily management systems, tier boards, and visual plant tools.
- Lead Kaizen activities focusing on waste elimination, FPY improvement, labor efficiency, and flow optimization.
- Ensure consistent execution of 5S and safety practices; audit and enforce standards.
- Champion cross-functional improvement initiatives with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and Materials.
- Quality, Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, escalation protocols, and corrective actions.
- Own FPY improvements, scrap reduction efforts, and layered process audit participation.
- Partner with Quality to drive root-cause investigations and verified corrective actions.
- Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Lead Tier 2 daily accountability meetings and ensure timely closure of actions.
- Collaborate with Planning & Logistics to align material flow with takt and schedule.
- Communicate production health, risks, and recovery plans to leadership clearly and concisely.
- Act as backup to the Director of Production for operational decision-making.
- Strategic Alignment & Culture Leadership:
- Champion JMA’s DNA and culture transformation through visible leadership and consistent behaviors.
- Promote a culture of alignment, teamwork, and data-driven decision-making across departments.
- Role-model conflict-resolution, respectful debate, and collaborative problem solving.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience of 8 years of leadership experience in a high-volume environment.
- A minimum of 5-8 years in production or manufacturing leadership.
- Preferred certifications: CSCP, CPSD, CPSM, CPIM.
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification.
- Proven track record in global contract negotiations.
- Skillful in unifying global supply chain structures.
- Strong analytical prowess with a focus on data-informed decisions.
- Exceptional negotiation, relationship-building, and communication abilities.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite and pertinent ERP systems, with a preference for SAP.
- Established expertise in team leadership, mentorship, and capability enhancement.
The US national annual base salary for this role is $110,000-$130,000. The range includes the base salary that is expected to be paid for this role. Actual base salary will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the of scope and complexity of the role, the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, peer and market data and geographic location.
