Job Description

Actian is seeking a Professional Services Consultant to join its team. This role involves providing high-quality pre/post-sales consulting and technical support for Actian products in mission-critical settings. The consultant will work independently, contributing to team efforts through collaboration and knowledge sharing, and will be proficient in all phases of project development lifecycle, interfacing with various stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Must have:
  • Design, implement, and deliver complex Data Governance, Data integration, and Data Management projects.
  • Solve database, integration, and analytics problems, including production issues.
  • Implement solutions using Actian products to support customer needs.
  • Follow and maintain support policies, procedures, processes, and best practices.
  • Execute project planning, management, design, and testing activities.
  • Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot software, hardware, or network systems.
  • Maintain current skills in Actian products and industry tools.
  • Create and deliver presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Identify and capture lessons learned, best practices, and information.
  • Create required documentation for client support, bug reports, etc.
Good to have:
  • Experience with specific industry data formats (e.g., Health Care HIPAA, HL7, FHIR).

Job Details

Actian is in search of a consultant who is interested in joining the Actian Professional Services team.

The primary focus of this position is to provide the highest quality pre/post-sales consulting, and support (technical, operational / production) to a variety of customers using the Actian products in mission-critical settings.

The successful candidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, be thorough while being efficient, and contribute to team efforts through collaboration and knowledge sharing.

This position requires a seasoned technical person proficient at all phases of the development lifecycle of projects. Candidates must be able to interface with external business users, management, and technical stakeholders to achieve results and meet objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work on Design, Implementation, and Delivery of complex Data Governance, Data integration and, Data Management projects for Customers using the Actian portfolio of Data Governance, Integration, and Database Solutions.
  • Solve database, integration and analytics problems either alone or in a team. These problems are often related to production issues or outages, and a sense of urgency balanced with diligence is required.
  • Implement solutions to utilize Actian products to support customer needs and goals.
  • Follow and maintain support policies and procedures, processes, and best practices.
  • Work with customers and internal teams executing project planning and management processes, design, and design review efforts, and testing activities.
  • Install, configure, test, and troubleshoot computer software, hardware, or network systems or applications necessary to reproduce or analyze the customer’s environment or problems.
  • Maintain current skills related to the use of Actian products and standard industry tools, technologies, and best practices to use in everyday tasks.
  • Under guidance, create and deliver presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Identifying and capturing lessons learned, best practices, and information gained during the performance of tasks.
  • Create required documentation for activities such as client support, site visits, bug reports, reproducible test cases, and unit test plans
  • Strong desire to learn from others in the data management, integration and governance spaces, developing technical and business skills.

Job Qualifications:

  • Experience/Knowledge with Data Discovery and Data Catalog tools such as Zeenea, Collibra, Alation or others.
  • Knowledge of Integration tools, such as Informatica, Boomi, Talend, DataConnect, DataFlow or IBM Datastage/Tranformation Extender
  • Hands-on experience with at least one database server such as Ingres, Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL or Informix.
  • Knowledge of Business Analytics applications (Tableau, PowerBI), support, and troubleshooting concepts
  • Knowledge of (but not limited to): Excel, XML, ODBC, ASCII, Java, COM, C, Visual SourceSafe/Git, CVS, REST
  • Proficient in the design and development of applications that use databases
  • Experience at designing and implementing solutions of various levels of complexity and integration with other products in a production environment.
  • Experience working with JSON, XML, EDI, and other data formats.
  • Experience with specific industry data formats (such as Health Care HIPAA, HL7, FHIR) a bonus
  • Knowledge of computer networking models, network configuration and diagnostics, and JDBC or .NET environments
  • Experience and knowledge of cloud services such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
  • Good understanding of SQL queries and scripts
  • The ability to work on multiple projects at one time, prioritizing tasks to meet critical and sometimes changing deadlines.
  • Knowledge of security systems, authentication, authorization, and access control systems in operating systems
  • Knowledge of multinational character sets and Unicode Experience in production operations of database or IT related systems
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Must be able to satisfy Australian Government Security Vetting Agency requirements for baseline clearance if requested.

Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience

Business Travel and Working Location:

  • Willing to travel for business if required
  • Must be located in Australia
