The Program Manager – Continuous Improvement is responsible for overseeing and supporting the delivery of Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives within Maersk’s Transported by Maersk (TbM) Operations in the Mekong Area (Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand). This role spans a wide range of projects, from small quick wins to larger, more complex transformational initiatives, all aimed at driving measurable improvements across people, processes, and systems to enhance efficiency, productivity, quality, and customer experience. A key aspect of the role is to track the status of these CI projects and ensure that each project, regardless of scale, achieves the intended benefits as planned, ensuring the improvements are sustainable and aligned with Maersk's business objectives.
Must have:
  • Lead and support CI project execution.
  • Provide comprehensive project support to teams.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration within project teams.
  • Track project status and ensure timely milestone delivery.
  • Design and establish project team frameworks.
  • Implement structured governance and project methodologies (Agile, Lean, Waterfall).
  • Ensure governance practices are followed.
  • Track ongoing CI project status.
  • Provide regular progress updates to stakeholders.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify and resolve project risks or issues promptly.
  • Engage with local teams, stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental and regional communication.
  • Share best practices and lessons learned.
  • Support measurement of achieved project benefits.
  • Ensure intended benefits are realized and tracked post-implementation.
  • Monitor long-term sustainability of improvements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or Operations.
  • Minimum 5 years in project management or CI roles.
  • Proven experience in project performance and KPI reporting.
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Power BI, JIRA, Confluence.
  • Strong familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, Agile methodologies.
  • Experience managing cross-functional or multi-country projects.
  • Native Vietnamese or Thai, and fluent English.
Good to have:
  • Experience in the transportation and logistics services industry
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt)
  • Project Management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, CAPM)
  • Background in logistics, supply chain, or customer service operations

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Team Support

  • Lead and support the execution of CI projects, ensuring alignment with goals of improving operational efficiency, productivity, and customer outcomes.
  • Provide comprehensive support to project leads, coordinators, and teams, assisting with project coordination, tracking progress, and maintaining project documentation.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration within project teams, ensuring that timelines are met, and accountability is maintained.
  • Track project status and ensure timely delivery of project milestones, ensuring alignment with the defined objectives and benefits.

Project Team Framework, Governance & Methodology

  • Design and establish project team frameworks, ensuring clear role definitions, responsibilities, and efficient communication models.
  • Implement structured governance standards, reporting cycles, and project methodologies (Agile, Lean, Waterfall) tailored to the needs of each initiative.
  • Ensure that governance practices, including progress reporting, risk management, and decision-making processes, are followed.

Project Status Tracking & Reporting

  • Track the status of all ongoing CI projects, ensuring that they are on schedule and that intended benefits are achieved.
  • Provide regular progress updates to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment across teams.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess project performance and impact.
  • Ensure any project risks or issues are identified early and resolved in a timely manner to avoid project delays or scope creep.

Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Engage with local teams, cross-functional stakeholders, and leadership to ensure alignment and transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate communication across departments and regions to ensure consistent execution of process improvements and alignment with global strategies.
  • Share best practices, lessons learned, and results across regional CI focal points to promote continuous improvement and harmonize efforts across the organization.

Ensuring Achieved Benefits

  • Support the measurement of the benefits achieved by each CI project, ensuring they align with the objectives defined at the project’s initiation.
  • Ensure that the intended benefits of projects are realized, tracked, and measured post-implementation.
  • Monitor the long-term sustainability of improvements, ensuring that the outcomes are integrated into standard operating procedures (SOPs) and that their impact continues to deliver value.

Skills & Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Operations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management or coordination roles, with a focus on Continuous Improvement or similar areas.
  • Proven experience in tracking and reporting project performance, benefits realization, and KPI management.
  • Hands-on experience with project management tools (MS Project, Excel, Power BI, JIRA, Confluence).
  • Strong familiarity with process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Agile).
  • Experience in managing cross-functional or multi-country projects, with preference for knowledge of the Mekong Area (Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar).
  • Language proficiency: Native Vietnamese OR Thais level, AND Fluent English level

Preferred

  • Preferred experience in the transportation and logistics services industry to understand the nuances of the sector and its operational challenges.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt).
  • Project Management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, CAPM).
  • Background in logistics, supply chain, or customer service operations is a plus.
