Job Description

As a Programmer (C++ / Proprietary Engine) at Double Eleven, you will collaborate with experienced programmers, designers, and artists to deliver high-quality game features and systems. Working in C++, you'll implement mechanics, integrate assets, and develop tools, bringing creative concepts to life. Your role involves fixing bugs, optimising performance, and ensuring project stability and polish, shaping the player experience from concept to release. Must have:
  • Design, develop, write, test and implement systems and game code
  • Test and refine game-play features and systems throughout development
  • Estimate tasks and deliver high quality code to that schedule
  • Perform code reviews with the development team to ensure code quality
  • Help develop technical design specifications
  • Work with designers, artists and publishing to create high quality titles

We’re looking for a programmer to join our award winning team, home to the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline and countryside. As a programmer, you’ll collaborate with experienced programmers, designers, and artists to deliver high-quality game features and systems. You will work in C++ to implement mechanics, integrate assets, and develop tools that bring creative concepts to life. Your contributions will include fixing bugs, optimising performance, and ensuring the stability and polish of our projects, helping to shape the player experience from concept to final release.

As a global gaming company, we've enabled millions to conquer Minecraft Dungeons, battle in Rust Console Edition and create new adventures in Fallout 76.

Recently, we collaborated with Rockstar Games to bring Red Dead Redemption to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 as well as partnered with Obsidian Entertainment on Grounded: Fully Yoked Edition for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 and 5.

What you’ll be doing

  • Design, develop, write, test and implement systems and game code
  • Test and refine game-play features and systems throughout development
  • Estimate tasks and deliver high quality code to that schedule
  • Perform code reviews with the development team to ensure code quality

  • Work with designers, artists and publishing as required to create the highest possible quality titles

What we’re looking for

  • Applicants should have relevant experience in the video games industry
  • Extensive experience with C++
  • Experience working on consoles
  • Self-motivated with a positive mental attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively
  • Writes clear, debuggable, maintainable and performance-targeted code
  • Able to break down and structure tasks to meet deadlines efficiently
  • Fluent in English, both verbal and written
  • Experience in profiling, optimisation, multi-threading or networking would be considered a bonus
