A commercially driven Project Director with deep expertise in Industrial Hygiene is sought to join the Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) team. This leadership role involves driving growth and profitability of the Industrial Hygiene & Build Environment practice, delivering technical solutions, cultivating client relationships, and building high-performing teams. The director will identify new business, advise clients, lead projects, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor staff.

- In-depth knowledge of California environmental regulations.
- Willingness to travel regionally.

Job Description
We are seeking a commercially driven and technically accomplished Project Director to join our Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) team. This is a high-impact, entrepreneurial leadership role ideal for a professional with deep expertise in Industrial Hygiene, combined with a strong track record in client development, strategic growth, and market expansion.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving the growth and profitability of our Industrial Hygiene & the Build Environment practice across the region - delivering high-quality technical solutions, cultivating client relationships, and building a high-performing team to support long-term success.
Strategic Leadership & Growth
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging your industry network and market insight.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to shape service offerings, go-to-market strategies, and regional positioning.
Client Development & Commercial Impact
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients across sectors including real estate, insurance, legal, construction, industry, and public agencies.
- Lead proposal development, client presentations, and contract negotiations to secure high-value projects.
- Drive revenue growth through strategic account management and cross-functional collaboration.
- Technical Oversight & Delivery
Technical Oversight & Delivery
Oversee and contribute to a wide range of EH&S projects, including:
- Industrial Hygiene assessments (e.g., asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, and indoor air quality).
- Environmental investigations and property assessments.
- Exposure assessments, risk characterization, and mitigation planning.
- Ensure technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction across all project phases.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams in the planning, execution, and delivery of complex environmental and health & safety initiatives.
- Develop and implement quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) protocols to maintain high technical standards.
- Provide strategic guidance on emerging EH&S trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.
- Mentor junior staff and foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Collaborate with clients to define project goals, manage expectations, and deliver tailored solutions.
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate project success and drive operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Geology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) consulting, with a strong foundation in Industrial Hygiene and Environmental Remediation.
- Demonstrated success in developing client relationships, securing new business, and delivering profitable project outcomes.
- Proven ability to lead and grow teams, mentor staff, and contribute to a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- In-depth knowledge of California environmental regulations, including Cal/OSHA, DTSC, and RWQCB requirements.
- Professional certifications such as CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), CAC (Certified Asbestos Consultant), or PG/PE (Professional Geologist/Engineer) are highly desirable.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
- Willingness to travel regionally to support client engagements and business development efforts.
