An exciting opportunity for a Radiation Protection Manager to lead Rolls-Royce Submarines' centralised radiological protection services in Derby. This role involves leading a team of radiation protection professionals, overseeing dosimetry, instrumentation, calibration, and radiation protection training. The manager will also coordinate the radiation protection development program, fostering the next generation of professionals. Candidates should have experience in leading teams and delivering quality services, with backgrounds in Radiation Protection Advising, Health Physics, or specialisms in dosimetry/instrumentation.
Must have:
  • Lead a team to deliver dosimetry services
  • Manage radiological instrumentation and calibration services
  • Oversee new in-house training pathway for trainee Health Physicists
  • Deliver radiation safety training across the Submarines business
Good to have:
  • Certified Radiation Protection Adviser
  • Specialist dosimetry knowledge and experience
  • Specialist instrumentation and calibration knowledge and experience (e.g. Qualified Persons)

Job Title: Radiation Protection Manager - Submarines

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Radiation Protection Manager to join Rolls-Royce Submarines to lead the delivery of our centralised radiological protection services.

We are looking for an individual with the right skills and experience to lead a team of radiation protection professionals providing a range of specialist services including dosimetry, instrumentation, calibration and radiation protection training. The role will also include management and coordination of our radiation protection development programme; helping to grow our next generation of radiation protection professionals.

We are interested in a range of backgrounds, including Radiation Protection Advisers, Health Physicists or those with a specialisms in dosimetry or instrumentation services (e.g. Qualified Persons). You will have experience in successfully leading teams and delivering of quality services.

What you will be doing:

In this role you will be managing and leading a team to deliver:

  • Dosimetry services, including internal and external dose assessment in nuclear and radiological facilities
  • Radiological instrumentation and calibration services to support our operations
  • Our new in-house training pathway for trainee Health Physicists
  • Radiation safety training across the Submarines business

Who we’re looking for:

Essential:

  • Radiation Protection professional with minimum 5 years experience on nuclear / radiological sites
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experience in managing technical / quality services

Desirable:

  • Certified Radiation Protection Adviser
  • Specialist dosimetry knowledge and experience
  • Specialist instrumentation and calibration knowledge and experience (e.g. Qualified Persons)
  • Experience in design and delivery of radiation safety training

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets we can only progress applications from individuals who are a UK national or, in MoD approved cases, a dual national.
