Role: Recording Sound Technician (on-call) - Side Montréal
Montreal, Canada
Purpose of Job:
The Recording Sound Technician plays a key role within the dialogue team, and is responsible for conducting and managing dialogue recording sessions in Side Montreal’s studios, working alongside voice directors, actors, clients, project managers and the post-production team and ensuring high-quality audio capture, conforming to Side’s quality standards.
You will need to work in a timely manner and support the technical delivery of the specific piece of work or project. On occasion, you will provide additional post production services, editing and exporting files to specs.
Duties and Key Responsibilities:
- Recording Sessions: Conduct and manage voice-over recording sessions, ensuring high-quality audio capture.
- Technical Setup: Prepare and maintain recording equipment, including microphones, preamps, and digital audio workstations (DAWs).
- Editing and Mixing: Edit and mix voice-over recordings to meet project specifications and industry standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with directors, producers, project managers and voice talent to achieve the desired audio performance.
- Quality Control: Perform quality checks on all recordings to ensure clarity, consistency, and technical excellence.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical issues that may arise during recording sessions.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed session logs and documentation for project tracking and future reference.

Qualifications:
- Experience: A minimum of 1 year of professional experience in voice-over recording or 3 years of experience in a related field (music recording).
- Technical Skills:
- Expert proficiency working with Pro-Tools, under both Macintosh and PC environments.
- Proficiency with Reaper.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Education: A degree or diploma in audio engineering, sound design, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong interest in audio technology.
- Good ability in troubleshooting technical and IT issues.
- Able to adapt and learn new skills and software.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Strong communications skills, as you will be interacting directly with the clients.
- Self-driven, resourceful and a team player who can work well with all levels.
- Nice to have: Passion for videogames.
