Who will you be working with?

As a member of Field Services Americas, you will be responsible for helping our customer (CSX Railroad) maintain their fleet of GE/Wabtec locomotives through strategic management of repair parts and materials.

This role serves as a Regional Manager responsible for directly leading and coaching material managers at multiple geographically dispersed sites, assisting them in achieving inventory, transportation, and revenue targets.

Reporting directly to the Material Leader for the CSX Account, this role is part of a large, experienced team focused on delivering value for our customers daily.

How will you make a difference?

The Regional Materials Manager utilizes strong locomotive knowledge and product expertise to ensure the availability of parts are readily available during the service of the Locomotive for Cincinnati CBO CSCs and surrounding locales*. Leading a large geographically dispersed team, this role will develop the strategy to ensure processes are in place to minimize LHFM/NIS events, ensure successful execution of transactions, producing, assembling and delivering replacement/repair parts and equipment as part of a Services agreement for expanding sites.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Preferred: Undergraduate degree from accredited university or college, preferably in logistics, supply chain management, industrial engineering, or a related field of study
  • A minimum of 5+ years of successful professional experience in a relevant logistics/operations focused role
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and/or experience leading others
  • Willingness and ability to work various shifts, various days, and work in shop environment as required for successful execution of materials strategies
  • Willingness and ability to travel 25%-50% as needed for appropriate oversight of each supported location
  • High level of proficiency in MS office applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated success in a customer facing role
  • The ability to maintain reliable and predictable attendance
  • A high level of dependability, a great attitude, and an ability to work well with a team towards achieving a common goal


What will your typical day look like?

  • Lead a team of 7+ materials staff in Cincinnati, OH and Evansville with material support obligations for surrounding locales. 
  • Manage all aspects of warehouse operations, including site services, implementing necessary upgrades, and meeting annual budgets.
  • Develop capacity planning models to support SI / SII operation plan for site
  • Drive materials management strategy and implementation to achieve inventory turns, and quality targets
  • Develop an integrated material schedule blending forecasted and customer requirements for site and communicate to account planner & Material Leader.
  • Driving the completion and implementation of improvement modifications thru the shop while working with local teams.
  • Manages and accounts for airbrake systems for entire MSA; maintains kitting and direct repair process—unique function only at this site
  • Drive business strategy and anticipate requirements across 2 site locations
  • Implement and lead material strategy for Cincinnati, OH and surrounding locales. 
  • Lead and direct inventory target and strategy to meet and beat site plan
  • Implements plans to support site operations, and warehouse logistics & shipping across 2 geographical, separated services locations.

  • Overnight travel to include air and car travel for multiple days as needed
  • Walking throughout the day
  • Walking up and down stairs
  • Overseeing and conducting physical inventory and cycle counts
  • Safely operating a forklift in accordance with established Wabtec safety protocols
  • Climbing on/off of locomotives
  • Lifting boxes and other objects of various weights
  • Wearing all required personal protective gear (hardhat, steel toe boots, ear plugs, eye protection) throughout the day
  • Speaking and hearing
  • Typing and operating a computer
  • You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary range for this role is between

$89,100.00-$126,900.00

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com.
