As a Release Manager at Bungie, you will be crucial in operating a live service game, managing the digital storefront, and releasing games/updates across platforms. You'll collaborate with internal and external teams to schedule and manage the entire product release lifecycle, ensuring quality and timely delivery. Responsibilities include coordinating store product creation, ensuring on-time updates, communicating release statuses, managing build processes, supporting internal teams, building strong relationships with various teams and partners, managing digital game codes, improving processes, and creating/updating documentation. The role requires experience in release management in the game or software industry, strong communication skills, excellent organization and time management, problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment, and a passion for continuous improvement. Flexibility with scheduling is essential due to release windows, including on-call work.

Job Details

As a Release Manager at Bungie, you will play a critical role in operating a live service game, managing our digital storefront presence, and releasing our games and updates on multiple gaming platforms. You'll work with teams across the studio and with our external partners to schedule and shepherd products through their entire release lifecycle, ensuring high quality and on-time delivery.

As we learn from each release, you will recommend and implement operational changes to continually improve experiences for our team, other Bungie teams, and the players of our games.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with internal and external partners to create products, bundles, and offers in platform stores
  • Ensure on-time and successful store and game updates through planning, prioritizing, scheduling, and coordinating all necessary work within the studio and with external partners
  • Coordinate and communicate status of releases
  • Run build processes to produce releasable packages and archives
  • Support internal teams as needed for release info, builds, packages, environment access, and investigations
  • Build effective relationships with development, operations, and publishing teams within Bungie and our gaming platform partners
  • Coordinate ordering, distribution, and management of digital game codes
  • Find ways to improve our current processes, making them more efficient, reliable, sustainable, and adaptable
  • Create and update documentation as release processes changes

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Experience with release management or a similar role in the game or software industry
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both verbal and written skills with team members across the studio and with external partners
  • Ability to coordinate with internal teams and effectively prioritize tasks
  • Impeccable organization and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented, focused, and composed under pressure
  • Ability to quickly solve or seek the solution to problems in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Passion for continuous improvement
  • Highly adaptable to a variety of situations
  • Flexibility with schedule during game and patch release windows, including some on-call work
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office (Excel, Outlook)
  • Enthusiasm for and knowledge of the games industry

NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS

  • Experience managing digital storefronts, digital supply chains, metadata management, and/or game publishing
  • Experience shipping titles for PlayStation, Xbox, PC
  • Experience supporting a Games as a Service (GaaS) title
  • Experience working within an Agile environment
  • Knowledge of certification/release processes for gaming platforms
  • Experience with SDK tools for console/PC platforms
  • Experience with PowerShell or other scripting languages to automate repetitive tasks
  • Experience programming in C# or other languages to build tools
  • Experience with build systems, CI/CD, release pipelines, etc.
Listed below is this role's base pay range. In other locations that Bungie has approved for remote work, this pay range may be adjusted up to +/- 10% and some roles may be classified as non-exempt (hourly). 

This range is determined by an array of factors, including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. Additionally, it is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Bellevue Pay Range
$139,000$159,000 USD

Prospective full-time employees who are located outside of a Bungie approved state will need to establish residency in an approved state within 45 days of their start date. Contractors will follow a digital first approach adhering to the location guidelines agreed upon by our third-party employer/vendor and Bungie. Bungie’s remote policy is subject to change at the company’s discretion.
