Job Description

The Rental Technician will deliver an exceptional guest experience by expertly assisting guests in selecting, fitting, and renting winter sports equipment and accessories tailored to their specific needs. This role ensures guests feel confident and prepared for their day on the mountain. The technician will also support efficient shop operations and maintain high service standards throughout the guest journey. Responsibilities include greeting guests warmly, providing fast and accurate equipment fitting, maintaining shop organization and cleanliness, acquiring product knowledge, and utilizing point-of-sale systems for transactions and inventory management. The technician will collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth operations and promptly resolve guest issues, assist with inventory tracking, and perform tasks like running skis and snowboards over waxing equipment. Attention to detail, adherence to risk management procedures, and general shop support are also key functions.
Must have:

Job Description

Position Summary

The Rental Technician delivers an elevated guest experience by expertly assisting with the selection, fitting, and renting of winter sports equipment and accessories tailored to each guest’s needs. This role ensures guests feel confident, comfortable, and ready for their day on the mountain. In addition, the Technician supports smooth and efficient shop operations to maintain high service standards throughout the guest journey. This role reports to the Store Manager.

Essential Job Functions

  • Greet guests and maintain a friendly and helpful attitude when dealing with guest needs
  • Provide fast, accurate and appropriate selection and fitting of a variety of winter sports equipment
  • Act independently to assure efficient, clean and organized shop/facilities operations at all times
  • Acquire and retain detailed Rental and Retail product knowledge to best serve guests and to help achieve departmental sales goals
  • Support shop organization, cleanliness, and product displays to ensure a professional and welcoming environment for all guests
  • Use point-of-sale and rental management systems to complete transactions, track inventory, and manage guest reservations efficiently and accurately
  • Work closely with other technicians, retail associates, and leadership to maintain smooth daily operations and resolve guest issues promptly
  • Assist in tracking inventory levels, organizing gear, and helping with restocking or reordering needs as directed
  • Utilize great attention to detail in the completion of all tasks and in supporting daily shop operations
  • Run Skis and Snowboards over waxing equipment when required
  • Comply with required risk management and indemnification procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements

  • 1 year of rental shop experience preferred
  • 1 year of customer service experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
  • Must pass ski manufacturers' binding certification (on-the-job training provided

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of product or service
  • Understanding on how to assist customers and meet their needs effectively
  • Basic industry terminology
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Proficiency in communicating clearly both verbally and in writing to team members
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Ability to work in collaboration with others to achieve team goals
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures and exercises caution when working
  • Ability to engage with customers in a positive and helpful manner
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to be a team player, working collaboratively with others
  • Ability to notice and address small discrepancies in work or customer feedback

Additional Information

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time. Kneeling and bending may be required
  • Regularly work indoors with no adverse conditions. Some positions require exposure to outdoor elements or a combination of both indoors and outdoors and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to frequently lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
