The role involves collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to advance safer gambling policies and programs. The manager will also oversee deliverables and evaluate the effectiveness of Safer Gambling interventions.

Research & Policy Manager (Temporary Full-time – approximately 16 months)

We are ready to take this game to the next level and need a passionate Research & Policy Manager to manage and execute research and policy development initiatives for OLG’s Safer Gambling Unit. This role is also responsible for leading assurance and reporting activities to meet regulatory and accreditation standards.

YOUR ROLE IN THE GAME

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Policy, you will be empowered to:

  • Contribute to Safer Gambling program management and enhancement, including policy development based on strategies, requirements and priorities defined by the team’s senior leaders

  • Manage key initiatives to advance program objectives, with defined outcomes and impacts; contribute strategic insights for continuous improvement, consistent with team methods for measurement and monitoring program evaluation and evolution. All must successfully implement/operate complex program elements

  • Develop new insights through external and internal research to find ways to advance and/or improve OLG’s Safer Gambling policies and programs

  • Responsible for producing and delivering presentations, training and policy positioning to OLG’s senior leadership, AGCO and to external Safer Gambling partners

  • Lead accreditation process with independent third-parties (World Lottery Association, RG Check) to ensure program’s ongoing certification requirements 

  • Ensure that PlaySmart policy is implemented to effectively to manage risk to players, to meet regulatory and accreditation standards

  • Supports Senior team by project managing program initiatives, supporting the development of strategies, tactics and plans to implement policies and initiatives, and where applicable, supporting the implementation

  • Provide timely support and analysis to internal (i.e., Customer Care, Legal, Privacy, Digital, Casino and Charitable Gaming Integrity) and external stakeholders (e.g., iGaming Ontario, RGC, Auditor General)

  • Ensure alignment and an appropriate information-share across the Safer Gambling Unit through participation and representation in cross-departmental committees

  • Oversee accuracy of deliverables including written reports, research briefs, presentations and training materials

  • Analyze and interpret complex gambling data to provide strategic oversight over a proactive outreach function to engage at-risk players in adherence to Safer Gambling decision-making protocols  

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of Safer Gambling interventions and make recommendations for escalation as warranted

WHAT YOU NEED TO PLAY

Work Experience: 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role with a focus in Corporate Social Responsibility, demonstrated experience in safer gambling

Education: university degree in Business Management, Policy, Public Health or a related field; strong knowledge of policy development and research methodologies; understanding of safer gambling regulations and compliance requirements

Critical Skills: problem solving; critical thinking; data analysis; attention to detail, verbal and written communication; relationship management; project management; creative visual and persuasive writing skills

Flexibility: occasional travel may be required
