Job Description

The RF/Antenna Application Engineer will partner with customers to solve their engineering problems and deploy Ansys software in their design workflows. This role involves providing technical pre-sales support, performing professional services, and translating customer requirements into new product features. The engineer will work within multidisciplinary teams to create simulation solutions. The responsibilities include leading technical activities, understanding customer needs, articulating Ansys' value, and developing expertise in the field. The engineer will also collaborate with product development teams, test product releases, and support marketing efforts. This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills in Japanese and English.
Must have:
  • Knowledge of microwave and antenna concepts
  • Experience with antenna applications or RF component design
  • Design knowledge of antennas and RF components
  • Working knowledge of ANSYS HFSS or similar software
  • Logical problem-solving and strong communication skills
Good to have:
  • Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software
  • Experience with coupled RF-thermal simulations
  • Knowledgeable with package and printed circuit board design

SUMMARY

Join the Ansys Customer Excellence team to partner with our customers to engineer what's ahead, solve their real-world engineering problems, deploy Ansys software in their design workflows, and grow Ansys’ business. As a hands-on subject matter expert, you will use expert-level engineering knowledge to provide technical pre-sales support, perform professional services, and help translate customer requirements into exciting new product features. You will be working within multi-disciplinary teams to create pervasive simulation solutions, advance your industry knowledge, and grow the business impact.

 

We are looking for a RF/Antenna Application Engineer. The RF/Antenna Application Engineer will have knowledge of designing/simulating microwave components, antennas, antenna arrays, filters, radomes, RF boards, and/or other RF components. This individual will support customers on-site and remotely in Tokyo. If your skills match this profile, we welcome you to submit your application for consideration!

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead in coordinating and executing all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle such as technical discovery, negotiate technical success criteria, product presentations, demonstrations and evaluations. Work independently within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Interact with customers to understand their product design needs and engineering design workflows; analyze how to address customers’ requirements using Ansys products and platform, articulate Ansys’ value proposition Assist in creating differentiating simulation solutions using the Ansys platform and products; deploy the solutions within customers’ design workflows
  • Develop competence as a subject matter expert and industry expert
  • Collaborate with the Ansys product development teams to translate customer requirements into exciting new product features; test new releases of Ansys products on industrial problems, develop application best practices
  • Support Ansys field and digital marketing, author conference presentations
  • Contribute to consulting services, conduct introductory and/or intermediate training classes

 

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Required education and degree type: BE, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Fundamental knowledge of high frequency, microwave and antenna concepts including S-parameters, wave propagation, antenna radiation patterns, scattering analysis, and component coupling/interference analysis.
  • Experience with antenna applications or RF component design
  • Design knowledge of antennas, RF components, matching networks, and installed antenna performance
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and previous usage of ANSYS HFSS or other simulation software involving real world, industry level applications
  • Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills, in writing and speaking Japanese and English
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, possesses a sense of urgency
  • Projects a professional image and demonstrates business acumen, driven to succeed
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 50% of time

 

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial CAE, CAD, EDA
  • Experience with coupled RF-thermal simulations
  • Knowledgeable with package, printed circuit boards and connector design processes and EDA Tools
