Must Have

  • Good knowledge of banking business models and key risks (credit, liquidity, market, operational)
  • Understanding of enterprise risk management framework components and concepts (COSO)
  • Knowledge of risk management processes (identification, assessment, aggregation, steering, monitoring)
  • Familiarity with key EU regulations (Basel Framework, CRD/CRR, ECB and CSSF guidelines)
  • Knowledge of ESG risks and related best practices
  • Proficiency in basic risk modelling techniques and quantitative analysis (stress testing, statistical approaches)
  • Strong analytical skills to understand problems and identify solutions
  • Ability to apply statistical and mathematical techniques for data analysis
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office suite)

Good to Have

  • Good understanding of risk modelling techniques and quantitative analysis
  • Knowledge of risk modelling and data management frameworks (IRB, IFRS 9, IRRBB, Expected Shortfall, Monte Carlo Simulation, BCBS 239)

Pwc Luxembourg is hiring a Risk Management Banking - Manager (m/f/d). What if it was you?

Your mission: In this role, you will join our team of experts who help PwC clients to achieve excellence in risk management practices and to ensure compliance with the relevant regulatory requirements. You will use your skills and knowledge to provide innovative solutions, tailored advice, and effective implementation of risk frameworks and systems for banks, investment firms and other financial institutions in Luxembourg and globally.

Be a part of our team where you will:

  • Develop understanding of key topics around risk including management and measurement, compliance, governance, related processes and financial performance, and their relevant advisory approaches.
  • Assist in gathering necessary information, conducting quantitative and/or qualitative analysis, preparing reports and presentations.
  • Assist in gap analysis, implementation and preparation of the regulatory and risk reports, or disclosures.
  • Analyse relevant regulatory texts (eg CRR, CRD, Basel Standards) and other industry standards / guidelines (eg EBA Guidelines, RTS / ITS, CSSF Circulars) and derive meaningful insights from a risk management and measurement standpoint.
  • Research and monitor the latest developments and trends in the banking sector and the regulatory landscape.
  • Assist in performing market studies and benchmarking exercises.
  • Review and support the advice on IT systems and solutions based on client needs and business requirements.
  • Develop relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in project management activities.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the team's methodologies, tools and processes.
  • Participate in internal and external training, and knowledge sharing initiatives.

General requirements

  • Hold a Master’s degree from a university, engineering school, or business school;
  • Bring experience (including internships) in the banking industry, particularly in risk management, which is a strong advantage;
  • Show genuine interest in risk management topics and a willingness to stay up-to-date with the latest developments and trends;
  • Possess good knowledge of areas such as banking business models and key risks (e.g., credit, liquidity, market, operational), enterprise risk management framework components and concepts (COSO), risk management processes (identification, assessment, aggregation, steering, monitoring), key EU regulations (Basel Framework, CRD/CRR, ECB and CSSF guidelines), ESG risks and related best practices, basic risk modelling techniques and quantitative analysis (e.g., stress testing, statistical approaches), and technologies or risk management tools;
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills to quickly understand problems, identify possible solutions, and determine key success factors;
  • Apply statistical and mathematical techniques to analyze and interpret complex data sets;
  • Show proven capability to work as part of a team;
  • Communicate effectively with different stakeholders, both internally and externally;
  • Work independently and take proactive ownership of tasks and deliverables;
  • Have excellent computer skills (MS Office suite), which are required for this role.

Specific requirements (only applicable for profiles with more quantitative background):

  • Good understanding of risk modelling techniques and quantitative analysis (eg stress testing, statistical approaches).
  • Good knowledge of risk modelling, and data management frameworks and standards (eg, IRB, IFRS 9, (IRB, IFRS9, IRRBB, expected Shortfall, Monte Carlos Simulation BCBS 239, etc.).
  • Good knowledge in programming languages such as VBA, SQL, Python and/or R.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in producing and validating risk models and respective reports.
