Job Description

The Sales Representative for New Business is an inside sales role responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities with customers who have not previously engaged with Autodesk's product suite. This hunting-focused role actively prospects new opportunities and leverages leads from Sales Development and Marketing to drive net new engagements, converting them into new projects that support customer business goals and exceed Autodesk's business objectives. Responsibilities include prospecting, qualifying and closing sales opportunities, collaborating with field sales representatives, managing customer relationships, preparing sales reports, and staying informed on industry trends.
Must have:
  • 3-5 years of sales experience, preferably in IT/SaaS.
  • Quota-carrying sales experience with proven ability to exceed targets.
  • B2B Sales experience in a hunting/acquisition role.
  • Experience using CRM tools.
Good to have:
  • Quota-carrying sales experience selling complex technology solutions.
  • B2B Sales experience selling to SMB or Enterprise Accounts.
  • Experience using Salesforce.com.
  • Strong business and sales acumen.
  • Demonstrated track record of exceeding quota.
  • Experience accurately forecasting and reporting account activity.
  • Ability to build strong relationships for business planning.

Position Overview

The Sales Representative for New Business is an inside sales role responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities with customers who have not previously engaged in Autodesk's product suite. This hunting-focused role actively prospects new opportunities and leverages leads delivered by Sales Development, Marketing, and/or self-sourced to drive net new engagements, converting those into new projects that support customers’ business goals and objectives and exceed Autodesk's quarterly and annual business goals. Additionally, they are tasked with qualifying and closing opportunities and supporting broader Field Sales/POD initiatives. 

Location - This role is hybrid with some work from home opportunities. The preferred location for this position is Denver, Colorado.  

Responsibilities

  • Prospect to Drive New Engagements: Leverages multiple communication channels and platforms to initiate contact and drive engagement with prospective customers, assessing their needs and positioning value of appropriate solutions

  • Qualify Sales Opportunities: Leads discovery to uncover customer challenges and pain points, and qualify net new opportunities that align to customer needs and objectives

  • Close Sales Opportunities: Manages all stages of deal cycle, effectively guiding prospects through the sales funnel to close deals under $50k

  • Collaborate with Field Sales: Engages and collaborates with field sales representatives to ensure a coordinated approach to hitting larger territorial and organizational objectives

  • Manage Customer Relationships: Develops and maintains strong customer connections to gain repeat business and referrals, ensuring satisfaction with Autodesk products

  • Prepare Sales Reports: Consistently maintain documentation of sales activities and provide detailed forecasts and analysis for strategic planning and performance evaluation

  • Stay Informed on Industry Trends: Keeps abreast of Autodesk's competitive positioning, offering insights and advice to potential clients, thereby enhancing sales effectiveness

Minimum Qualifications 

  • 3-5 years of sales experience ideally in the IT/SaaS industry 

  • Quota-carrying sales experience with demonstrated ability to exceed targets

  • Previous B2B Sales experience, specifically in a hunting or acquisition-focused role 

  • Previous experience using CRM tools 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Quota-carrying sales experience selling complex technology solutions- SaaS experience strongly preferred 

  • Previous B2B Sales experience selling to SMB or Enterprise Accounts 

  • Previous experience using Salesforce.com 

  • Sound business and sales acumen 

  • Demonstrated track record of success: consistently exceeding quota in a structured, disciplined, sales environment that includes strategic and collaborative/team selling 

  • Experience accurately forecasting and reporting account activity 

  • Ability to build strong relationships for business planning with sales team members

  • A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization; resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways. This job is a fully qualified, career oriented, journey-level position. Has a complete knowledge of company products and services

  • Works on problems of diverse scopes where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise

  • Responsible for selling the company’s products or services, developing new accounts and/or expanding existing accounts

  • Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based sales roles, we expect a starting On-Target Earnings (OTE) between $92,200 and $140,910. OTE is comprised of base salary plus commission target for sales roles. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
