People Can Fly is seeking a Senior AI Programmer for their Project Echo team. This role involves proposing, implementing, and owning AI tasks and features, collaborating on shared components, and ensuring performance. The programmer will work across disciplines on NPC behaviors, iterate with the design team, create tools, and maintain/extend the Unreal Engine AI framework. Key responsibilities include testing, debugging, profiling, and optimizing AI implementations, as well as contributing to the company-wide AI codebase.

- Breakdown tasks, update progress, ask questions, raise issues, and propose solutions.
- Work closely with Principal and project Architect to implement high quality features and code.
- Proactively participate in code reviews.
- Work across multiple disciplines on non-player character behaviors.
- Work closely with the design team and iterate on game features.
- Create dedicated tools and features.
- Test, debug, profile and optimize implementations.
- Maintain and extend the existing Unreal Engine AI framework and tools.
- Design, implement into engine and maintain new AI features.
- Track work in production systems.
- Work on improvements to the company wide AI codebase.
- 6+ years experience working in console / PC games.
- Involved in the production cycle of at least 1 title.
- Excellent primary programming language skills (C++).
- Good knowledge of Source Control and Code Review tools (Swarm, Perforce, Git).
- Good knowledge of Project Management Software (JIRA, Confluence).
- Strong math background (3d math, matrices, linear algebra).
- Understanding of physics and classical mechanics.
- Good understanding of usual algorithms and techniques used by AI teams in games.
- Experience with performance measurement and optimization.
- Experience in programming different gamedev AI topics like movement, navigation or decision-making logic.
- Ability to write solid, reliable, efficient code.
- “Game designer” like creativity to help solve gameplay problems.
- Experience with multi-threading.
- Good Unreal Engine knowledge.
