Job Description

The Senior Animation Engineer will focus on Character, Camera, and Controls (3Cs) working with animators and designers to deliver extraordinary experiences. The role involves architecting, implementing, and maintaining gameplay animations. Responsibilities include breaking down features, collaborating with engineers, writing C/C++ code, and analyzing different problem-solving approaches. The engineer will own features and systems and drive them to meet the needs of holistic solutions, ensuring grounded and believable animations that are pivotal to the game. The engineer will also be responsible for writing and maintaining documentation related to features, tools, and workflows. Grounded, believable animations are pivotal to the game, and in this role, you will help build cutting edge technology empowering us to deliver a great narrative.
Must have:
  • Craft systems to attain design goals, maximize player comfort, and match player intuition
  • Proven skill in shepherding animation from DCC to final pixels
  • Solid knowledge of C++
  • Strong math skills
Good to have:
  • Shipped at least one AAA game as a 3Cs architect
  • Comprehensive understanding of Unreal Engine Blueprints

We are looking for a Senior Animation Engineer ready to make ground-breaking innovations for a AAA title.  The Senior Animation Engineer will focus on 3Cs (Character, Camera, Controls) working with animators and designers to deliver extraordinary experiences.  Grounded, believable animations are pivotal to our game, and in this role, you will help build cutting edge technology empowering us to deliver a great narrative. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Architect, implement, and maintain the selection, integration, and manipulation of AAA quality gameplay animations that reflect the game design goals and mechanics 
  • Break down features, building plans and assessing dependencies 
  • Work with the production team and engineering leadership to schedule those plans 
  • Collaborate with engineers and other disciplines to provide holistic solutions. 
  • Own features and systems, driving them to meet the needs of those holistic solutions 
  • Write production quality C/C++ for systems, features, tools, and workflows 
  • Analyze different approaches to solve problems and discuss the tradeoffs between them 
  • Write and maintain documentation related to features, tools, and workflows 

Requirements & Skills:  

  • Strong understanding of 3Cs to expertly craft systems that attain the design goals of the game, maximize player comfort, and match player intuition 
  • Proven skill at shepherding animation from DCC to final pixels, retaining artistic quality and intent 
  • Solid knowledge of C++ 
  • Strong math skills 
  • (Bonus) Shipped at least one AAA game as a 3Cs architect 
  • (Bonus) Comprehensive understanding of Unreal Engine Blueprints, state machines, blend spaces, Montages, Anim Graphs, and Event Graphs

TNM considers a number of factors when determining each role's base pay range, including industry benchmarks, location, experience, and other job specific skills. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for other incentive compensation including equity and profit share. The estimated base pay range for this role is U.S. only and not applicable for locations outside of the U.S.

The estimated base pay range for this role is: $160k-$195k
