Job Description
The Senior Applications Engineer will be responsible for researching and defining power electronics topologies using Power Integrations’ products. They will design, develop, and optimize applications, as well as application boards, using these products. Additional responsibilities include developing algorithms to optimize designs, assisting in new product development, and evaluating designs. The engineer will also provide design documentation, training materials, and technical support to customers worldwide. This role involves circuit evaluation, simulation, and computation, and requires satisfying customer design requirements while creating technical application materials for publication and presentation. The position requires providing support and materials for conferences, exhibits, and industry sessions.
Good To Have:
- Experience in designing power electronics for industrial or consumer devices.
- Experience or background in programming.
Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in power converters or similar.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in creating design specifications and technical reports.
Description
Responsibilities
- Research and define power electronics topologies base on Power Integrations’ products
- Design, develop, and optimize applications using Power Integrations’ products
- Design and develop application boards using Power Integrations’ products
- Develop algorithms to automatically optimize design applications using Power Integrations’ products
- Assists in new product development and research of new applications for both new and older generation of Power Integrations’ products
- Evaluate designs built using the company’s products
- Circuit evaluation, simulation, and computation
- Provide design documentation, training materials, and technical support to users and/or customers.
- Provide design support and technical advice to Power Integrations’ customers worldwide
- Satisfy customer design requirements
- Research and write technical application materials for publication and presentation
- Provide support and materials for conferences, exhibits, industry sessions, seminars, webinars, trade magazines and data books
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering or Electrical Engineering
- 5 years of experience in any of the following areas:
- power converters/conversion/management
- resonant converters (LLC, ZCS, ZVS)
- inverters (three phase, single phase, etc.)
- motor applications and control (field-oriented control, trapezoidal control, etc.)
- basic programming, firmware, and/or software development
- power electronics design, test, and evaluation
- switching/switch mode power supply (SMPS)
- use of electronic equipment like oscilloscope, AC/DC source, power meter, digital multi meter, etc.
- control loop design, test, and evaluation
- magnetics design for transformers, chokes, and inductors
- EMI, ESD, surge, thermals
- PCB layout and design
- circuit simulation
- Excellent written and oral communication with experience in creating design specification, technical report writing and test plan/instructions
- Experience in designing power electronics circuitry for industrial equipment or consumer devices is desirable
- Experience or background in programming is desirable
- Willing to learn and be trained
- Open for detailed discussions, suggestions, and planning
