This role is an opportunity to join a global HR team as an employee benefits subject matter expert. Responsibilities include the day-to-day administration and communication of employee benefits in the U.S. and Canada, working with vendors to maintain competitiveness, compliance, and manage costs. The individual will provide subject matter expertise on benefits, wellbeing, and leave management to employees, administer various employee benefit programs, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, manage leave of absence processes, plan wellbeing programs, assist employees with benefit tasks, reconcile monthly billing and invoices, and resolve participant benefit concerns with vendors. The role also involves participating in annual vendor negotiations, plan design sessions, coordinating 401k committee meetings and audits, preparing and delivering communications, planning annual enrollment, and collaborating with various internal teams and international partners.
Must have:
  • Strong knowledge of benefit plan design and compliance
  • Experience with US and Canada Benefits & LOA administration
  • Proficient with Microsoft programs and HRIS systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Minimum of 5 years benefits administration experience

  • Experience with Equity programs
  • Experience with immigration administration
  • International benefit experience

Great opportunity to join global HR team as an employee benefits subject matter expert!  In this role you will be responsible for  the day to day administration and communication of employee benefits in the U.S. and Canada including working with vendors to develop recommendations to maintain competitiveness, compliance, and manage costs.

Under the direction of the Director Payroll & Benefits, this individual provides subject matter expertise on administration, compliance, vendor management, communication and education on benefits, wellbeing, and leave management to new and existing employees.
 

Salary range of $83,900 - 125,700. (It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. The actual salary will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors).

Daily Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Oversee third party administration of various employee benefits programs, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life, accident and disability programs, flexible spending account programs, Employee Assistance Program, and retirement plans (401k and RRSP)
  • Keep up to date with changes to laws and regulations to ensure benefit programs remain compliant. Recommend and implement changes as required
  • Administer leave of absence processes, including tracking leave time in Workday, and coordinating disability payments with payroll
  • Plan and deliver ongoing global wellbeing programs utilizing third party software
  • Employee induction for new hires and farewells for leavers
  • Assist employees (using Service Desk) with benefit tasks including enrolment in systems (Workday or ADP), submitting applications for late enrolment, leaves of absence and COBRA administration
  • Manage & reconcile the payment of the monthly billing & invoices for all group employee benefits programs
  • Work with vendors to resolve participant benefit concerns and issues
  • Assist with vendor & broker management to ensure service levels are adhered to
  • Participate in annual vendor negotiations and plan design sessions with benefits broker
  • Coordinate quarterly 401k committee meetings with vendors
  • Coordinate annual 401k ERISA audit
  • Prepare and deliver communications explaining benefits policies and procedures to various groups
  • Plan and deliver the annual benefits enrolment process for the U.S
  • Collaborate and work effectively with multiple teams including Legal, Audit & Compliance, Finance, HR, HRIS, HRSS, Communications, Payroll
  • Partner with International Payroll & Benefit Team members on Global project initiatives
  • Coordinates immigration cases with 3rd party legal firm

 

 

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of benefit plan design and compliance requirements (for example ACA, FMLA, HIPAA, COBRA)
  • Experience with US (essential) and Canada (desirable) Benefits & LOA administration (includes vendor management, billing/invoices, enrolments, audits etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft programs and HRIS systems. Workday and ADP experience a plus
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, project management, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Equity programs (ESPP and Long-Term Incentive Plans) a plus
  • Experience with immigration administration and international benefit experience a plus
  • Minimum of 5 years benefits administration experience in publicly traded multinational company
