Job Description

Do you want to help strengthen a growing bridge engineering environment in Northern Norway – and contribute to safe, sustainable, and robust infrastructure?

The majority of Rambøll's bridge expertise in Norway is located at the Drammen office, but our bridge department now wishes to further strengthen the existing bridge expertise at the Alta office.

Rambøll's Alta office currently consists of over 40 employees in fields such as building, bridge, road, water, geotechnics, area planning, valuation, and search. We now want to further strengthen our professional environment in bridges – and are looking for an experienced bridge engineer with a background in structural engineering.

The Northern Lights city of Alta is a growing city, surrounded by spectacular nature and a great need for professional expertise in critical infrastructure. With us, you get a role where you can both influence the region's development and work on national and large interdisciplinary projects through Rambøll's extensive project portfolio.

**Is this you?**

  • You have experience with inspection, condition assessment, and design of maintenance or rebuilding of bridges and other load-bearing structures.
  • You thrive in a varied work everyday with both field and office work.
  • You are motivated by challenging problems in structural engineering.
  • You want to contribute to strengthening the professional environment in Northern Norway – and become a resource for both local and national assignments.

As a senior bridge engineer with us, you will, among other things, work with:

  • Inspection, condition assessment, and analysis of bridges, quays, and other structures.
  • Planning, design, and follow-up of maintenance and rehabilitation measures.
  • Preparation of reports, cost estimates, and design basis.
  • Technical responsibility/discipline leadership in larger projects, or project management for smaller projects.
  • Contribution to method development, lifetime assessments, and quality assurance.
  • Professional support to colleagues and competence building for our growing bridge environment.

**Who are we looking for?**

We primarily seek applicants who:

  • Have a minimum of 10 years of experience in inspection, rehabilitation, and/or rebuilding of bridges (candidates with somewhat less experience will also be considered)
  • Have an education in structural engineering (engineer/civil engineer).
  • Have knowledge of current regulations, including Norwegian Public Roads Administration manuals and Bane NOR's technical regulations.
  • Have experience as a technical lead, discipline lead, or project manager.
  • Communicate clearly in Norwegian, both written and oral.

Personal qualities we value:

  • Independent, structured, and quality-conscious.
  • Good collaboration skills and a desire to share expertise.
  • Curious, solution-oriented, and comfortable with responsibility.

**What can we offer?**

At Rambøll, you get a work environment that combines the local and close with the international and professionally strong:

  • Framework agreements with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, Bane NOR, and county municipalities – which ensure professional opportunities and varied assignments.
  • Focus on sustainability, lifetime extension, and innovative solutions.
  • Good opportunities for professional development, courses, and responsibility.
  • Flexible working day, competitive conditions, and an inclusive work environment.

**Examples of projects our bridge department has worked on**
