Job Description

FICO is seeking a Senior C++ Engineer to join a highly energetic team developing an analytic decisioning platform. This role involves contributing to a backend engineering team responsible for parallelized processing of high-volume, low-latency decisioning and analytics execution. The engineer will drive technical development, design software platform capabilities, and continuously improve engineering practices for efficiency and reliability, working with cutting-edge technology on unique business problems.
Good To Have:
  • DPDK, SPDK, HPX, and OpenMP experience strongly preferred.
Must Have:
  • Work closely with product managers to understand priorities and usage scenarios.
  • Collaborate with architects to drive the design for your software platform capability.
  • Continuously improve engineering practices for efficiency, reliability, and serviceability goals.
  • 15+ years of commercial C++ development experience with expertise in v17 or greater standards, current Boost libraries, and modern features.
  • 10+ years of low-latency development including large-scale systems and distributed architecture design with sub-millisecond performance requirements.
  • Recent experience with multi-threaded and multi-process programming for high-performance parallel computing.
  • Experience designing, building, and operating commercial AI/ML software with stateful algorithms.
  • Experience building sophisticated runtimes in C++ that integrate various other languages such as Python.
  • Skilled in defining and driving design transformation to an end state based on simplicity, modern software design patterns, open-source software, and cloud environments.
  • Technical expertise across all deployment models on public cloud, private cloud, and on-premises infrastructure.

What You’ll Contribute

  • Work closely with product managers to understand priorities and usage scenarios of product features.
  • Collaborate with user experience personnel to understand personas within usage scenarios.
  • Work with architects to drive the design for your software platform capability.
  • Collaborate within working groups of software engineers to follow software engineering standards, guidance, and processes.
  • Continuously improve engineering practices for the software platform to support efficiency, reliability, and serviceability goals.
  • Assist research, case studies and prototypes on technologies to ensure the software platform remains the leading analytic decisioning platform.
  • Coach other software engineers on creating their domain designs.
  • Collaborate with QA engineers to design and implement non-functional tests.

What We’re Seeking

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • 15+ years of commercial C++ development experience with expertise in v17 or greater standards, current Boost libraries, and modern features including parameterized templates, range-based for-loops, and lambda captures.
  • 10+ years of low-latency development including large-scale systems and distributed architecture design with sub-millisecond (microsecond-level) performance requirements.
  • Recent experience with multi-threaded and multi-process programming for high-performance parallel computing, with DPDK, SPDK, HPX, and OpenMP experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience designing, building, and operating commercial AI/ML software with stateful algorithms executing in low milliseconds, covering the complete lifecycle from authoring to execution to observability.
  • Experience building sophisticated runtimes in C++ that integrate various other languages such as Python.
  • Skilled in defining and driving design transformation to an end state that is based on simplicity, modern software design patterns, open-source software, and cloud environments.
  • Technical expertise across all deployment models on public cloud, private cloud, and on-premises infrastructure.
  • Works well with other very smart people, enjoys the zero->one creation process.
  • Excels in remote work environments, delivering exceptional results with minimal supervision.
