CIMA+'s Infrastructure team is seeking a Senior CAD Designer for diverse land development projects across Alberta and Canada. The role involves creating and modifying CAD drawings using Autodesk Civil 3D, preparing site grading plans, underground utility layouts, and erosion & sediment management plans. The designer will also support earthworks analysis, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, and ensure drafting standards are met, contributing to innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
Must have:
  • Create and modify CAD drawings including site plans, block profiles and cross sections using Autodesk Civil 3D software
  • Prepare site grading plans, underground sewer and watermain layouts, as well as erosion & sediment management plans
  • Adhere to quality control workflows and processes to ensure consistent quality deliverables
  • Coordinate with other engineers and technologists as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Mentor team members, delegate tasks and support career growth of junior staff
  • Ensure drafting standards meet current design and Client standards, guidelines and other requirements
  • Civil Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent education
  • Minimum 6 years experience in land development and infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Basic understanding of civil engineering principles (site grading, water, sanitary, storm sewer servicing)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Experience with the City of Calgary CAD standards and design requirements

We are looking for a Senior CAD Designer within our Infrastructure sector. You will work on diverse land development projects across the Alberta region and Canada, benefiting from a robust mentorship network to support your professional growth.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create and modify CAD drawings including site plans, block profiles and cross sections using Autodesk Civil 3D software
  • Prepare site grading plans, underground sewer and watermain layouts, as well as erosion & sediment management plans. Support with earthworks volume analysis, and cross section review. Assist stormwater teams with overland, and minor-system models and drawings.
  • Adhere to quality control workflows and processes to ensure consistent quality deliverables
  • Coordinate with other engineers and technologists as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Mentor team members, delegate tasks and support career growth of junior staff
  • Ensure drafting standards meet current design and Client standards, guidelines and other requirements

Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent combination of education and industry experience
  • Minimum 6 years experience in land development and infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D including alignments, corridors, pipe networks, surfaces and grading tool
  • Experience with the City of Calgary CAD standards as well as design requirements would be considered an asset
  • Basic understanding of civil engineering principles, including site grading, water, sanitary and storm sewer servicing, and eagerness to expand your knowledge
  • Collaborative team player who enjoys collaborating and working in a multi-disciplinary team to find the best solutions
  • Detail oriented and take pride in your deliverables
  • Eager to keep learning and work with a mentor
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
