The Cobalt Services area is responsible for the entire lifecycle of essential shared services in the Command Central cloud-native software suite, offering capabilities such as the Events Pipeline, Rules Engine, Unit and Device management, Mapping, GIS, and Messaging services, which support multiple mission-critical products across the organization. The Cobalt Services DevOps team of experts operates as a Center of Excellence (CoE) by fostering a culture of operational excellence, managing the cloud infrastructure, deployments, and pipelines while defining and enforcing a set of best practices and automation standards.
We are seeking a highly skilled and driven Senior DevOps Engineer to mature, design, and deploy automated infrastructure provisioning mechanisms within our Azure cloud-native environment. This is a pivotal role for a creative, precise, and motivated individual with a strong background in cloud-native solutions, modern software tooling, and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Azure CI/CD Mastery: Design, implement, and continuously improve robust CI/CD pipelines specifically for our Azure cloud services, enabling developers to push code with high confidence and rapid delivery.
- Azure Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Collaborate with the team on the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of our scalable and highly reliable infrastructure entirely within Azure, utilizing Terraform for all Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives.
- Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS): As part of the team, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and hands-on management of our environments across the entire lifecycle, from Development and Staging all the way to Production, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Azure Cloud Environment Support: Provide expert DevOps support to our Engineering Feature teams across all Azure Cloud environments, from development to production.
- Cloud-Native Innovation: Proactively investigate and recommend cutting-edge Azure technologies and tools that best fit RapidDeploy's strategic goals.
- Documentation & Best Practices: Thoroughly document all Azure cloud infrastructure, systems, and processes, and ensure security, operability, quality, and scalability in all work.
- Operational Excellence: Serve as a key member of the top-tier support team for escalated infrastructure issues and participate in an after-hours on-call rotation to address critical downtime.
- Collaboration & Mentorship: Foster strong collaboration between development and operations teams, sharing knowledge and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
Basic Requirements
- Minimum of 6+ years of dedicated DevOps experience supporting Cloud-only Infrastructure Environments, with at least 3 years specifically in Microsoft Azure.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Docker and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) in a production setting.
- Proven expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) utilizing Terraform for managing Azure resources.
- Proven experience in a DevOps or SRE role with a strong focus on cloud cost management. Candidates should have a track record of successfully reducing cloud expenditures.
- Strong understanding of Azure networking concepts, system architecture, and advanced troubleshooting techniques.
- Proficiency in utilizing Git as a repository for your infrastructure as code, including branching strategies.
- Experience with relational (e.g., Azure SQL Database) and document (e.g., Azure Cosmos DB) database systems.
- Familiarity with GitOps methodology.
- Solid scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Knowledge of monitoring, logging tools such as Kibana (ELK), Grafana, Azure Monitor, Application Insights.
- Experience with leveraging GenAI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency, including automating code generation for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), generating test cases, and providing intelligent troubleshooting suggestions for CI/CD pipelines.
