Wind River is seeking a Senior Engineer for Cloud Testing to join its Cloud team, focusing on large-scale projects like Kubernetes, Docker, and OpenStack. This role involves testing Wind River's Cloud Platform product, which delivers telecom-grade Edge Cloud solutions globally. The engineer will contribute to expanding cloud-native platforms for containerized applications, virtual machines, and bare metal nodes, working with cutting-edge open-source technologies.
Must have:
  • Develop and execute system tests for highly available, carrier-grade WindRiver Cloud Products.
  • Work with dynamic open-source software projects like Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, Openstack, Ansible, Ceph.
  • Focus on containerization, virtualization, VM management, and fault-tolerant/carrier-grade testing.
  • Investigate and report issues during product verification cycles.
  • Provide support to documentation and customer-facing teams.
  • Participate in all aspects of the software development process using agile development.
  • 6+ years experience in software development and automation testing.
  • Strong expertise in Python, test automation frameworks (Robot, Pytest), and scripting (Shell/Bash).
  • Proficiency in Linux, backend/UI automation, and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenStack).
  • Hands-on experience in containerization, Ansible, and automation framework development from scratch.
  • Excellent communication, strong analytical skills, and collaborative team player.

Senior Engineer – Cloud Testing

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Within the Wind River Cloud team, we work with large-scale projects like Kubernetes, Docker, OpenStack and fast-paced Open-Source technologies that are in high demand from our customers. Wind River Cloud has adopted these technologies into the core of our product, which is driving us to find experienced and high-performing individuals who can learn and contribute to these container and virtualization solutions. In addition, the Wind River Cloud team is a leading contributor to the Open Source StarlingX cloud native project, to manage and maintain the critical infrastructure for highly distributed Edge solutions, including 5G, Autonomous Vehicles, Industrial Automation, and Augmented Reality. Wind River contributes and builds upon the work within StarlingX to ensure it meets the demands of these critical applications.

What You’ll Do

Wind River Systems is seeking an experienced, high-performing software test/automation engineer for a position testing its Cloud Platform product. The successful candidate will join a highly skilled test team delivering the world’s first telecom grade Edge Cloud , pioneering many new industry leading capabilities. Windriver Cloud products WRCP, WRC, WRO, and WRA are currently deployed with major service providers globally and are undergoing expansion to provide a cloud native platform for containerized applications in addition to supporting virtual machines and bare metal nodes. The successful candidate must be a highly adaptable team player who can quickly ramp up on new technologies and accomplish goals in a fast-paced agile environment. Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker,Containers, REST APIs, Automation, and Openstack desired.

Who You Will Work With

  • The successful candidate will work and collaborate with development and customer-facing teams to ensure high levels of product quality.
  • Collaborate with Customer Support, Product Management and Development teams to bring a leading-edge solution to market on time.
  • This position will report to the Test/Automation Manager for Cloud Platform.

Responsibilities

  • Develop system tests and execution of system test cases for a highly available, carrier grade WindRiver Cloud Products which will be the of choice for 5G vendors
  • Work with the most dynamic and exciting open-source software projects today – Kubernetes (K8s), Docker, Helm, Openstack, Ansible, Ceph, etc
  • Work as part of a team focused on containerization, virtualization, VM management and fault tolerant/carrier grade testing.
  • Investigate and report issues during product verification cycles
  • Provide support to documentation and customer-facing teams
  • Participate in all aspects of the software development process using agile development

Qualifications/Skills

  • BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 6+ years of experience in software development and automation testing.
  • Strong expertise in Python, test automation frameworks (Robot, Pytest), and scripting (Shell/Bash); experience with Elastic Stack and debugging.
  • Proficient in Linux, backend/UI automation, and cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, and OpenStack.
  • Hands-on experience in containerization, Ansible, and automation framework development from scratch.
  • Excellent communication, strong analytical skills, and collaborative team player with a fast-learning, self-managed mindset.
  • Mandatory Skills : Kubernetes, Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure), Docker, OpenStack, Ansible
  • Good to Have Skills : - Python Programming, Virtualization Technologies, Containerization Concepts, Python-based Automation Framework Development, Manual Testing, Backend Test Automation, Frontend Test Automation, Scripting (Shell, Bash), ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), Log Analysis and Debugging
