Senior Hardware Application Engineer – High-speed Communications (m/f/d)

Your team:

The Ethernet Networking Solution group (ENS) is part of the Product Line (PL) In Vehicle Networking (IVN) and is one of the fastest growing segments within NXP. The applications team within ENS is responsible for providing technical support to the field application team, while working closely together with R&D experts, Marketing team and directly with customers, worldwide. We are well recognized within the automotive market as experts and belong to the cross-industry community that introduces novelties in car networking. The location of this vacancy is Hamburg, Germany.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

• Responsible for customer application support activities and system solutions for Ethernet switch and physical layer products and their application in In-Vehicle Networks (IVN)
• Respond to technical questions from our customer base and provide support for designing with NXP Ethernet products
• Reproduction and verification of issues reported by customers; if necessary, on-site support to identify and debug problems
• Create customer facing technical documents such as application notes, white papers, FAQ’s, product trainings, etc.
• Responsible for initiation and leading the development of reference designs and product or solution demonstrators
• Cooperate with other application teams within NXP and external 3rd parties to create complete system solution packages and eco-system
• Trainings and workshops with automotive manufacturers and their electronic subsystem suppliers
• Contribute to thought leadership activities through conferences, trade fairs, articles, etc.

Required and desired skills and experience:

• Several years of experience of hardware development, using system-on-chip semiconductors & other electronic components
• Experiences in high-speed serial communication networks
• Knowledge of Ethernet network implementations is a plus
• Hands-on analog and digital hardware experience, incl. hardware bring-up and hardware optimisation 
• Proven problem solving and debug capabilities
• Knowledge of microcontrollers, low level drivers and configuration scripts is a plus
• Experiences in dealing with customers
• Known to deal with multi-disciplinary, multi-national teams and able to drive topics to a conclusion
• Ability to communicate clearly, paying attention to details and the unique needs of different audiences
• Talent to build strong relationships both to internal and external customers

Your education and personality:

• University degree in Electronics, Communications, Computer Science, or similar
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, cross-cultural mind-set
• Independent working style, fast learner, creative and open for new ideas
