Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Search)

Insider, a leading AI-native platform for Customer Experience and Marketing, is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with expertise in Search. The role involves designing, building, and releasing AI products/features, implementing data pipelines for training and inference, writing production-ready code, and continuously monitoring system performance. The engineer will own system architecture, performance, observability, and scalability, while collaborating across teams to create impactful products and mentor other engineers. Must Have

• Design and deploy search, ranking, or recommendation systems
• Improve core product discovery metrics through AI/ML systems
• Work with NLP and Information Retrieval techniques
• A/B test and iterate on system impact
• Build high-throughput real-time or batch ETL pipelines
• Manage data orchestration with Airflow or similar
• Build and scale feature stores, data lakes, or analytical platforms
• Focus on data quality, wrangling, lineage, and monitoring
• Hands-on with AWS/GCP, Docker/Kubernetes, or MLOps
• Strong software architecture and domain-driven design experience
• Design and implement robust backend systems
• Work on APIs, microservices, or messaging queue systems
• Integrate observability, security, and CI/CD pipelines
• Optimize data indexing, inference speed, API latency, or deployment workflows
• Hands-on experience in container systems and cloud services
• Curiosity and initiative to solve complex problems
• Collaborative ownership and team/product-first approach
• Self-organization and full ownership through real-world impact
• Ability to ship and learn together as a strong team
• Continuous mentorship and technical coaching

• Experience with transformers, embedding models, vector search, LLMs, RAG, Agents

• Design, build and release AI products/features that solve real user problems
• Design and implement streaming/batch data pipelines to support training and inference

• Worked with state-of-the-art NLP and Information Retrieval techniques such as transformers, embedding models, vector search, LLMs, RAG, Agents, etc.
• A/B tested the impact you have provided and took actions to make it better

• Built high-throughput real-time or batch ETL pipelines (Spark, Kafka, etc.) supporting ML training/inference
• Managed data orchestration with Airflow or similar frameworks
• Built and scaled feature stores, data lakes, or analytical platforms
• Focused on data quality, wrangling, lineage, and monitoring
• Hands-on with AWS/GCP, Docker/Kubernetes, or MLOps pipelines

• Have strong experience with software architecture and domain-driven design to convert business ideas into working software products
• Designed and implemented robust backend systems for high loads using Java, Python, Go, or similar languages
• Worked on APIs, microservices, or messaging queue systems to serve high-loads smoothly
• Integrated observability, security, and CI/CD pipelines into the systems
• Optimized data indexing, inference speed, API latency, or deployment workflows
• Hands-on experience in container systems, cloud services, infrastructure-as-code, incident-free release of software services (docker, kubernetes, AWS, terraform, feature-toggles, blue-green deployment, etc.)
