Job Description
You’ll join the Xplor Pay Development Team to make a real impact every day. We say that because we know that every code line we write, every interface we design and every conversation we have, is another opportunity for us to enrich our customers’ experiences. You will help us provide a full stack payment processing and acquiring platform to integrators, partners, and merchants. Whether small and independent or large franchises, we build services that customers can rely on. You will be involved in the entire software development lifecycle, working with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and others to help deliver and support required functionality across our payment platform, its user interfaces and APIs.
Vision and Strategy:
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to ensure the team remains innovative and competitive.
- Make sure your teams understand the concept of "partial failure" and the importance of planning for failure.
- Keep systems as simple as possible, coaching your teams to reduce the complexity of solutions wherever feasible.
- Understand how the systems you are responsible for function at a high level so you can provide effective guidance to your teams.
- Cultivate a good understanding of how your system processes fit into the larger business.
Leadership and Team Management:
- Foster a positive and inclusive work culture that promotes collaboration, creativity, and professional growth.
- Build and develop high-performing software engineering teams through effective recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and performance management.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities based on team members' skills and strengths, encouraging autonomy and ownership.
- Provide regular feedback, recognition, and opportunities for career advancement to motivate and retain top talent.
- Foster cross-team collaboration and communication to promote knowledge sharing and synergies.
- Attend and provide encouragement to your teams during demos.
Project Management:
- Collaborate closely with other stakeholders, such as product managers, VP’s, and business leaders, to understand project requirements and ensure successful delivery.
- Oversee project planning, resource allocation, and risk management to ensure projects are completed within scope, timeline, and budget.
- Continually review the SDLC, to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality.
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels within the team and with external stakeholders to ensure transparency and timely updates.
- Encourage your team to demo their software. Agile is about working code.
Technical Excellence and Quality Assurance:
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
- Encourage engineers to enhance their skills, acquire certifications, and stay up to date with the latest technologies and industry standards.
- Promote code reviews, automated testing, and other quality assurance practices to deliver robust and high-quality software solutions.
- Establish and enforce coding standards, best practices, and documentation guidelines to ensure consistency, maintainability, and scalability.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Act as a bridge between your teams and senior management, effectively communicating the team's progress, challenges, and resource needs.
- Collaborate with directors, VPs, and the CTO to align software engineering initiatives with broader organizational goals.
- Promote open and transparent communication within the team, fostering a culture of constructive feedback, active listening, and effective problem-solving.
Continuous Improvement:
- Regularly evaluate the team's performance, processes, and tools to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
- Encourage innovation and experimentation, allowing team members to explore new ideas and technologies.
- Utilize HR-mandated systems to set goals, track those goals and track the performance of team's members against their individual goals and the company's goals.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, sharing lessons learned and implementing best practices across the organization.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of hands-on development using Microsoft .Net technologies including C# over Microsoft SQL data repositories, .Net core 2.0 and higher.
- 4+ years of hands-on development using Angular 9 or higher.
- Hands-on experience with key web technologies such as HTML, CSS3, Responsive Design, REST
- Have a keen eye for improvement in scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
- Experience in applying security technologies such as TLS, SAML, OAuth.
- Experience with distributed, event-driven system architecture environment.
