Job Description

Sperasoft seeks a Senior Material Artist to create high-quality materials and textures for AAA-quality game assets. Responsibilities include producing outstanding materials using Substance Designer, Substance Painter, and ZBrush; collaborating with Lead/Art Director to ensure materials align with art direction, style, and quality standards; working with Level Artists for material usability; maintaining material library integrity; setting up and ensuring correct material engine functionality and blending; independent research and implementation of industry trends and techniques; and selecting appropriate software. The ideal candidate possesses deep Substance Designer knowledge, PBR understanding, Maya proficiency, Megascans experience, strong communication skills, and at least one shipped title. Experience with complex semi-procedural shaders and material blending systems is also required.

Must Have:
  • Proficient in Substance Designer, Painter, ZBrush
  • PBR & Physically based material knowledge
  • Maya or similar software proficiency

Description

Sperasoft is hiring a Senior Material Artist for for creating high-quality materials and textures. If you are passionate about materials creation, creating visually stunning (AAA-quality) assets and capable of understanding and following technical requirements and pipelines, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

Responsibilities

  • Produce outstanding materials using Substance Designer, Substance Painter, ZBrush
  • Work with the Lead and Art Director to ensure that materials match Art Direction, style, setting and target quality
  • Work closely with Level Artists to make materials that will be convenient for them to use.
  • Maintain integrity and uniformity of material library.
  • Setup materials in the engine and ensure they work correct and blend properly.
  • Be independent, do research and implement the latest industry trends and techniques.
  • Picking the right software for the job without focusing on Substance Designer specifically.

Requirements

  • Deep & highly proficient knowledge of Substance Designer
  • Knowledge of PBR and physically based material standards
  • High proficiency with Maya or similar
  • Experience with Megascans
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills
  • Autonomy and independence
  • Good eye for appropriate stylization and detail
  • Able to produce materials in a wide variety of styles and themes
  • At least one shipped title within the industry
  • Knowledge of material optimization for real time engines
  • Experience in creating textures for complex semi-procedural shaders
  • Knowledge about material blending systems
  • English level: intermediate
