Job Description

As a Senior MCU Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for validating and debugging MCU IC products to ensure high functionality and zero failures. You'll collaborate with design and production teams, develop test plans, and drive testing. Responsibilities include designing test boards, writing firmware and software, performing post-silicon validation, and analyzing data. You will also work with design teams to isolate issues, perform failure analysis, and verify fixes. Additionally, you will develop automation scripts, mentor junior team members, and interact with other departments.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 5+ years of experience
  • Experience in post-silicon validation of mixed-signal circuits
  • Experience in automated test system development
  • Knowledge of software programming tools and development
  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuits, including MCU core
  • Knowledge of PCB design and IC circuit design
  • Proficiency with circuit-level simulation tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Senior Validation Engineer - MCU Validation
Austin, TX

Responsibilities:

Senior engineering position responsible for MCU IC validation. Validation and debug of IC products ensures a high coverage of functionality with a goal of zero functional failures in the field. Validation team collaborates with the IC Design and Production Test to develop a validation plan, provides inputs for design-for-testability, and drives testing. Works with the IC design, Customer Support, and Systems teams to determine requirements for both datasheet-level and system-level testing. Works closely with the Product Test team to drive product-level characterization and comprehensive data collection necessary for yield improvement activities.

• Development and execution of validation test plans, designing test boards, writing test firmware & software, and building system-level configurations.

• Post-silicon validation, testing, and debug of block functionality on prototype silicon.

• Work with design teams to isolate design errata, perform failure analysis, and verify design fixes.

• Perform system-level verification prior to production release to identify problems.

• Enables and/or performs silicon characterization and functional testing through the development of robust and reusable tests.

• Maintain and analyze characterization data to ensure that the data matches design goals while also identifying potential problems in production.

• Define, develop, and/or acquire software and/or hardware tools in support of silicon validation efforts.

• Develop automation scripts to automate data collection, decrease data collection times, ensure repeatable measurements, and generate reports.

• Help build sustaining engineering competencies within the validation team to support existing products, assist the applications group, identify root causes of problems, and PG identified fixes.

• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to less experienced team members

• Interaction with other disciplines (design, applications and product and test engineering).

• Other duties as required.

Skills You Will Need
Minimum Qualifications:

  • A technology-related bachelor's degree or equivalent training and 5+ years of related experience. Graduate coursework may reduce the minimum experience requirement.
  • Mixed-signal, post-silicon validation experience 
  • Experience in the development of automated test systems using laboratory equipment
  • Knowledge of software programming tools and SW development
  • Technical knowledge of analog and digital circuits, including MCU core & peripherals
  • Knowledge of PCB design
  • Knowledge of IC circuit design and device fabrication
  • Proficiency with circuit-level simulation tools
  • Technical documentation authoring and editing skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work across functional groups
  • Good organizational skills and attention to details
  • Proficiency with MS Office or equivalent

The annualized base pay range for this role is expected to be between $118,650 - $220,350 USD. Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location where work will be performed and applicant’s skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus, equity package and a comprehensive benefits package.
