Job Summary
Synechron is seeking a highly experienced Senior Murex Batch Support Engineer to join our support team. This role is critical in ensuring the stability and efficiency of Murex-based batch processes, particularly during end-of-day (EOD) operations. The incumbent will provide second and third-line technical support, troubleshoot complex issues, and oversee batch processing activities in a dynamic, high-pressure financial environment. Your expertise in Murex, SQL, Unix scripting, and support operations will directly contribute to operational excellence, system reliability, and timely financial reporting.
Software Requirements
Required Skills:
- Extensive experience supporting Murex (version 3.1 or higher) in production environments
- Strong SQL skills for data analysis, issue diagnosis, and validation
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux operating systems and shell scripting (Bash/sh)
- Experience managing EOD batch processes, ensuring job success and resolving failures
- Use of ServiceNow, JIRA, or similar incident management tools
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of cloud deployment environments (AWS, Azure)
- Additional scripting skills in Python or Perl
- Familiarity with batch monitoring tools and infrastructure automation
Overall Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage Murex EOD batch processes, ensuring they execute successfully within scheduled windows
- Provide second and third-line support for production incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing solutions
- Troubleshoot batch process failures by analyzing logs, database queries, and system metrics
- Collaborate with technical and business teams to coordinate problem resolution and optimize workflows
- Assist with deploying patches, upgrades, and system configuration changes
- Document procedures, incident reports, and lessons learned to improve support effectiveness
- Escalate issues effectively, ensuring timely resolution and clear stakeholder communication
- Support ongoing system improvements, automation, and process optimization efforts
- Maintain support documentation and participate in shift rotations in a 24x5/24x7 environment

Technical Skills (By Category)
Application & Batch Processing (Essential):
- Extensive support experience of Murex batch workflows, especially EOD jobs
- Shell scripting (Bash/sh) for automation and troubleshooting
- SQL for query writing, data validation, and issue analysis
Infrastructure & Monitoring (Essential):
- Working knowledge of Unix/Linux environments supporting Murex
- Familiarity with batch scheduling and monitoring tools
Incident & Change Management (Essential):

- A minimum of 5+ years supporting Murex batch operations in a production environment
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve batch failures, especially during EOD cycles
- Experience supporting support models such as 24x5 or 24x7
- Financial services experience, especially within trading, settlement, or risk domains, is advantageous

- Candidates with extensive Unix/Linux scripting expertise and demonstrated operational support capabilities may be considered
Day-to-Day Activities
- Monitor batch dashboards, logs, and alerts to ensure successful job completions
- Troubleshoot and resolve batch failures through log analysis and database inquiries
- Collaborate with infrastructure and development teams for issue resolution and process improvements
- Automate manual tasks and optimize batch workflows
- Lead incident escalations, communicate updates, and coordinate resolution efforts
- Document troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and process modifications
- Support system upgrades and patches with minimal disruption
- Participate actively in shift handovers, incident reviews, and continuous process optimization
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
- Over 5 years of experience supporting Murex batch operations in a production setting
- Deep understanding of Murex architecture, infrastructure, and batch execution workflows
- Strong scripting skills in Shell and SQL
- Prior experience in high-pressure support environments, with attention to accuracy, timeliness, and customer service
- Willingness to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
