The mission of The New York Times is to seek the truth and help people understand the world. That means independent journalism is at the heart of all we do as a company. It’s why we have a world-renowned newsroom that sends journalists to report on the ground from nearly 160 countries. It’s why we focus deeply on how our readers will experience our journalism, from print to audio to a world-class digital and app destination. And it’s why our business strategy centers on making journalism so good that it’s worth paying for.
The New York Times is looking for a temporary Senior Producer who can develop and oversee video-first news podcasts that reach mobile, social, and digital audiences.
You will oversee the editorial, production, and stylistic components of a show or shows, and lead the teams responsible for story planning, shooting, editing and publishing our work to mobile, social and digital audiences.
You are a strong manager with a background in news, a sharp eye for the week’s most important stories. Experience live-producing a news-driven show is an asset. This role requires a deep understanding of podcast video production and post-production, and the ability to conceive of fresh visual approaches. You understand social video trends and take an innovative and adaptive approach to video formats and techniques.
You must see both management and collaboration as central to your work. You’ll provide strategic guidance on how to visualize stories—working closely with producers, reporters, cinematographers and editors to support our creative vision—and will work under the direction of the Executive Producer, Podcast Video.
This is a temporary (12 months) hybrid position based in New York and includes regular attendance in the office each week per your departmental guidance, with occasional travel to the other office.
