We are seeking a Senior Product Manager/Product Owner for our Mobility Essentials team, focusing on Umo Pass and cFlex, cloud-hosted electronic fare payment systems. This role involves driving vision, strategy, and roadmap, working in an agile environment to define and prioritize user stories. The ideal candidate will innovate solutions, improve customer and rider experience, and maximize value delivery, taking bottom-line responsibility for product success. They should be proactive, dedicated to continuous improvement, and adept at surprising customers and driving operational efficiency.
Good To Have:
  • Diversity of experience in product management, project management, vendor management, user experience, or customer support.
  • Direct experience with Software-As-A-Service business models.
  • Success driving strategy through behavioral analytics tools, use of feature flags, and customer engagement platforms.
  • SAFe, Scrum, or other related Agile practice certifications.
Must Have:
  • Experience with Agile, Kanban, or Scrum is a must.
  • Experience with cloud-hosted platforms to innovate solutions.
  • Industry experience with automated fare collection, fare payment, or high technology solutions.
  • Keeping current in the Fare Collection Industry space to drive novel concepts.
  • Obsessing over the speed of delivery for new agency customers through efficient and automated processes.
  • Refining the program backlog and maintaining it over time, prioritized effectively.
  • Accepting stories upon completion.
  • Collaborating with the broader Umo product team to drive cross-team collaboration.
  • Designing Umo Pass to be flexible and adaptable with other Umo offerings and 3rd party partners.
  • Working with product, program, and engineering team members to drive operational efficiency and a return on investment capital.
  • Identifying new market opportunities and partnerships.
  • Closely working with engineers to find maximum value in minimum time.
  • Having a constant, insatiable need to gather and understand our customers’ challenges.
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years of Product Owner, product management, or related experience.
  • An absolute passion for improving the customer experience and the journeys of their customers.
  • Advanced abilities to prioritize, triage, and ultimately address unexpected challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to use knowledge and data to evolve product strategy.

Job Summary:

We’re looking for a Product Owner to join our Mobility Essentials team to drive our vision, strategy, and roadmap. Umo Mobility and cFlex are our cloud-hosted, full-featured electronic fare payment system for Transit Agencies. We’re a pure agile team which means that experience with Agile, Kanban, or Scrum is a must. You will be working closely with our product management team, our customers, business owners, and other stakeholders to define and prioritize user stories with the Mobility Essentials team. This role will focus on shaping and delivering an innovative experience to our agencies while improving the experience for their riders. You will be fully aligned with our product roadmap and strategic plan and drive product development with our team. Your ultimate goal is to maximize value delivered in the minimum amount of time. To do this, you’ll use your experience to partner with key Umo stakeholders in the business and technology teams as you evolve our platform strategy. Ultimately, you will “own” Umo Pass and cFlex product delivery, and with your team, drive success to our existing and future customer base.

We’re looking for someone who knows how to see what needs to be done and does it without being asked. They should spend time thinking and learning every day regardless of how busy it might get and must always be dedicated to making things incrementally better. We put a lot of trust and faith in our team members and this person must instinctively know how to use that for the betterment of our product, team, and customers. They must have experience in surprising and delighting customers and in driving operational efficiency in both process and product. Finally, experience being bottom-line responsible for delivering products is a must with special attention given to those that specialize in the “last mile” and “where the rubber meets the road”, without excuses. You will be hands-on. Always.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Using your experience with cloud-hosted platforms to innovate solutions that drive customer value, reduce cost, and increase flexibility
  • Bringing your industry experience with automated fare collection, fare payment, or high technology solutions to a team of bright, industry innovators who strongly believe in “first principles”
  • Keeping current (or ahead) in the Fare Collection Industry space to drive novel concepts that fit the needs our customers didn’t even know they had
  • Obsessing over the speed of delivery for our new agency customers but through efficient and automated processes instead of manual labor
  • Refining the program backlog and maintaining it over time. Our Product Owners work closely with our system architects, engineering teams, business owners, and stakeholders to ensure that our backlog is prioritized effectively based on value, time, and team dependencies.
  • Accepting stories upon completion
  • Collaborating with the broader Umo product team to drive cross-team collaboration within the broader Umo solution portfolio
  • Designing Umo Pass to be flexible and adaptable with our other Umo offerings and our 3rd party partners
  • Working with product, program, and engineering team members to drive operational efficiency and a return on investment capital
  • Identifying new market opportunities and partnerships in conjunction with our business development team that allows future partnerships to develop and advantage the Umo Pass solution
  • Closely working with engineers to find that “bang-for-the-buck” that drives maximum value in the minimum amount of time
  • Having a constant, insatiable need to gather and understand our customers’ challenges to overcome them with truly innovative solutions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four-year college degree or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of Product Owner, product management, or related experience
  • An absolute passion for improving the customer experience and the journeys of their customers

  • Demonstrated ability to use knowledge and data to evolve product strategy

Cubic Pay Range:

$146,000.00 - $200,000.00* + benefits.
