Senior R&D Engineer, Software

Broadcom's VMware Cloud Foundation Division (VCF) is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join the VCF Ops Management organization. This role focuses on building, testing, and supporting key management solutions for our private cloud offering. The ideal candidate will be a key member of an Agile development team, translating business requirements into high-quality, well-tested code. Responsibilities include participating in design and code reviews, solving complex problems, developing automated test cases, and driving efficiency and product quality through best practices. The position requires a team-oriented individual with excellent organization and problem-solving skills, committed to delivering high-quality software aligned with user needs and business objectives.

Must Have

• Bachelor's/Master's degree or global equivalent in a software related field
• 6+ years of experience in software development
• Extensive experience with Java and related frameworks
• Good knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, software design patterns and distributed systems fundamentals
• Experience in Agile software development
• Knowledge of version control systems such as Git
• Ability to work collaboratively within an Agile team
• Participate in design and code reviews
• Develop automated test cases to validate integrated or end-to-end functionality

Good to Have

• Experience developing scalable systems with high availability
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs
• Experience with CI/CD tools like GitLab CI/CD
• Experience with relational databases

We are looking for an engineer who moves quickly, is team oriented, and possesses excellent organization and problem-solving skills. The individual and team goal will be to develop and maintain high-quality software aligned with user needs and business objectives.

Work location for this position is in our Palo Alto, CA office. Must have legal authorization to work in the US.
