Job Description

Proofpoint is seeking a Senior Sales Engineering Specialist for its People Protection Group (PPG), focusing on Impersonation Protection solutions. This role involves building customer relationships, driving solution adoption, and supporting sales by aligning technical product capabilities with customer threats. The specialist will develop and deliver customer solutions, act as a trusted adviser, present value propositions, and expand technical expertise. Key responsibilities include leading demonstrations, assisting with proposals, and enabling other sales engineers.
Must Have:

  • 3+ years in high-tech pre-sales or customer-facing consulting capacity.
  • Experienced in working with field sales teams and comfortable with quota-driven performance management.
  • Significant industry knowledge and experience.
  • Expertise in enterprise applications, security, cloud, or systems management.
  • Strong customer-facing and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficient in listening and questions-based selling.
  • Experience as a Specialist SE or Overlay SE.

Senior Sales Engineering Specialist - Proofpoint People Protection Group (PPG)

As a Senior Sales Engineering Specialist at PPG, specializing in Impersonation Protection solutions (Email Fraud Defense, Secure Email Relay, Supplier Threat Protection Takedown). You will play a substantial role in building and sustaining customer relationships while driving the adoption of these solutions. As a Senior Sales Engineer you will work closely with field sales and extended teams to support the acquisition of new revenue from existing and prospective customers, focusing on the technical alignment of our product and how we address our customers threats. The Senior Sales Engineer role at People Protection Group will be impactful, visible, and rewarding.

Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Sales Engineer works hand-in-hand with the field sales teams to develop and deliver customer solutions, supporting the broader Proofpoint sales team to hit sales targets.
  • The Senior Sales Engineer seeks to build deep, consultative relationships with their customer, effectively becoming a trusted adviser. The Senior Sales Engineer is ideally positioned to understand the customer's high-level business objectives, and match these to the solutions in the group to satisfy the business and technical requirements.
  • The Senior Sales Engineer is comfortable presenting Impersonation Protection’s value proposition, technologies, strategy, and product roadmaps to all levels at their customer including executives, technical management, and technical engineers.
  • Continuously develop and expand the knowledge of customers' business and mission. Create and present solutions that address customers' needs using the Impersonation Protection products portfolio along with third-party solutions.
  • Once an opportunity is identified, the Senior Sales Engineer is a critical member in developing the opportunity and moving it towards closure. Sales Engineers will be responsible for developing expertise delivering the technical competitive intelligence for our sales team.
  • Sales Engineers constantly seek to expand their technical expertise and knowledge of Proofpoint’s People Protection technologies, industry direction and trends via enablement and internal training offerings.
  • The Senior Sales Engineer will be responsible for enabling the broader Proofpoint Sales Engineers and act as a Specialist and Go to person for everything around Impersonation Protection solutions.
  • As a group, Sales Engineers communicate and collaborate with their peers and colleagues on trends, product feedback, customer stories, etc. This will include the creation of technical content and artifacts as well as owning the technical product feedback loop with the product and engineering teams.

Typical Activities will include:

  • Building high-level design and architecture drawings
  • Technically validating the solution with the customer
  • Leading any demonstration or Proof of Value (PoV) activities
  • Assisting with the preparation of a proposal, Due Diligence and RFP processes
  • Helping the AE develop business cases and ROI/TCO justifications required to get support to drive business forward
  • Enablement of the broader Proofpoint Sales Engineers
  • Build processes and tools that will allow us to be more efficient and effective running our regular activities
  • Has experience as a Specialist SE or Overlay SE
