Must have:
  • Develop, write, test, and document embedded code for safety-critical electronic engine control and monitoring systems.
  • Collaborate with teams and customers on safety-critical software using model-based and code-centric design.
  • Establish high standards of technical capability, quality, professionalism, and teamwork.
  • Develop high integrity control systems for gas turbine engine applications.
  • Prepare and review engineering work products for stakeholder reviews.
  • Liaison with certification airworthiness authorities for compliance.
  • Resolve complex problems using technical experience and knowledge.
  • Develop and communicate complex technical ideas concisely.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science with 2+ years experience.
  • Or Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • Or PhD in Engineering.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Job Description

Rolls-Royce is looking for a Senior Software Control Engineer to join our growing team. In our team as a Senior Control Software Engineer, you will develop, write, test and document embedded code for safety critical electronic engine control and monitoring systems.

You may be involved at any stage of a project lifecycle from concept development, integrated/component testing through final production release. You'll usually work in project teams with colleagues in other branches of engineering.

*This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule allowing for remote and in-office work based on location. Hybrid work arrangements are subject to change based on business needs and/or changes in company policy. All hybrid employees must have a secure, high-speed internet connection and an appropriate workspace that complies with applicable information security and confidentiality requirements.

What you will be doing

With this attractive opportunity you will get a chance to:

  • Collaborate with other teams and customers to develop safety-critical software on programs utilizing model-based and code-centric software design
  • Work with a cross-functional team to establish the highest standards of technical capability, quality, professionalism, and teamwork
  • Develop high integrity control systems for gas turbine engine applications
  • Prepare and review engineering work products supporting internal and external stakeholder reviews
  • Liaison with certification airworthiness authorities to explain approaches, demonstrate compliance to objectives, and close out audit findings
  • Resolve complex problems through the application of acquired technical experience and knowledge
  • Develop and communicate complex technical ideas and information in a concise and logical way

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Possess:

  • Gas Turbine experience
  • Experience with developing safety-critical software
  • Experience in C/C++, MATLAB Simulink, or similar
  • Experience developing logic for closed-loop systems
  • Experience with embedded software design
  • Model-based system engineering

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with 2+ years of product development engineering experience, OR
  • Master’s degree in in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • PhD in degree in in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering
  • In order to be eligible for consideration, you must be a U.S. Citizen
