Job Summary

Autodesk's Platform Services and Emerging Technology (PSET) team is seeking a Senior Software Developer to build and scale their data platform infrastructure. This role involves designing robust APIs for data platform management, architecting scalable storage and compute solutions, and creating automation systems for platform resilience. The developer will tackle complex distributed systems challenges, optimize data workflows at scale, and build foundational services that drive innovation across Autodesk's product ecosystem, focusing on creating high-performance data infrastructure that directly enables customer value.

Must Have

  • Design and build scalable APIs for data platform management
  • Architect and scale data infrastructure processing billions of records daily

  • Drive observability initiatives to monitor system health

  • 5+ years building large-scale cloud infrastructure in production environments
  • Strong programming skills in Java or Python
  • Proven experience building microservices architectures and designing RESTful APIs
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD
  • Intermediate knowledge of AWS services
  • Strong communication skills with technical and business stakeholders

  • Advanced knowledge of AWS services (EKS, EMR, S3, IAM, VPC, etc.)
  • Exposure to big data technologies such as Spark, Hive, Airflow, Presto, Kafka
  • Experience with enterprise observability tools (Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk)
  • Experience mentoring junior developers and contributing to technical decision-making
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams with data engineers, data scientists, and product managers

Job Description

Autodesk's Platform Services and Emerging Technology (PSET) team is hiring a Senior Software Developer to build and scale our data platform infrastructure. You'll design robust APIs for data platform management, architect scalable storage and compute solutions, and create automation systems that ensure platform resilience while empowering teams to deliver impactful customer features.

Reporting to our Software Developer Manager for Platform Infrastructure, you'll tackle complex distributed systems challenges, optimize data workflows at scale, and build the foundational services that drive innovation across our product ecosystem. Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable APIs for data platform management, enabling self-service capabilities for storage and compute resources
  • Architect and scale data infrastructure processing billions of records daily across batch and real-time pipelines
  • Develop automation systems that ensure platform resilience and minimize operational overhead
  • Create tools and APIs that empower teams to rapidly build and deploy customer-facing features
  • Implement comprehensive security frameworks across data, application, infrastructure, and network layers
  • Drive observability initiatives to monitor system health and optimize performance at scale
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions
  • Establish and evangelize best practices for infrastructure deployment, automation, and accessibility

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years building large-scale cloud infrastructure in production environments
  • Strong programming skills in Java or Python with deep understanding of software engineering principles
  • Proven experience building microservices architectures and designing RESTful APIs
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipeline development
  • Intermediate knowledge of AWS services with demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of AWS services (EKS, EMR, S3, IAM, VPC, etc.)
  • Exposure to big data technologies such as Spark, Hive, Airflow, Presto, Kafka, or similar distributed processing frameworks
  • Experience with enterprise observability tools (Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk)

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of competitive compensation package. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $98,600 and $144,650. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
