Job Description
The Senior Software Engineer will work on the backend of Bing's search engine, focusing on delivering high-quality search results in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining web applications and services; collaborating with product managers, designers, and other engineers; ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability; writing clean, efficient code; participating in code reviews and testing; and staying current with industry trends. The role involves building web experiences and big data pipelines using cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka) is preferred.

Overview
The MAI platform team works on the backend of Bing search engine to power the contextual and relevant search experience to all our users. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us. This team focuses on delivering the quality of the search result in a dynamic world where the internet is ever growing and continuously evolving by devising predictive modelling, text mining, classification and/or other advanced statistical techniques

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on building web experiences and big data pipelines.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on building web experiences and big data pipelines.
- Experience with big data technologies and frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
- Demonstratable problem-solving skills, attention to detail, communication and collaboration skills.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain web applications and services that enhance Bing’s search experience.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver innovative features and improvements.
- Ensure the scalability, performance, and reliability of web applications and data pipelines.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices and coding standards.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to drive continuous improvement.
