Enphase Energy is seeking a Sr. Staff Hardware Engineer to join their Product Engineering team. The role involves maintaining and improving existing products, addressing hardware fixes, performance enhancements, and obsolescence issues. The engineer will troubleshoot customer issues, implement continuous improvement strategies, and ensure product compliance with industry regulations. Responsibilities include hardware design support, cost reduction proposals, failure root-cause analysis, alternative part qualification for power electronics boards, and working with cross-functional teams. The position also involves product validation for new geographical markets, specifying and verifying complex circuits, performance testing, assisting with global certifications, and mentoring manufacturing and field application engineers. A key aspect is raising the bar for technical excellence, documentation, and scientific rigor.

About the role:

As a Sr. Staff Hardware Engineer, you will be part of the Product Engineering team, who are responsible for maintaining and improving existing products throughout their lifecycle, including hardware fixes, performance enhancements, and addressing obsolescence issues. Essentially ensuring a product remains functional, meets customer needs by troubleshooting customer issues, and implementing continuous improvement strategies to optimize product performance and ensure products remain compliant with relevant industry regulations and standards.

 What you will do:

  • Hardware design support, cost reduction proposals, Failure root-cause analysis and alternative part qualification for power electronics boards.
  • Work in cross-functional teams of hardware, firmware, test automation and mechanical engineers
  • Passionate in field quality improvement and cost reduction through VAVE (Value Analysis and Value Engineering).
  • Product validation for new geographical countries, by understanding requirement, testing and deployment.
  • Specify, design, verify and debug complex circuits for our inverters
  • Performance test products and sub-systems
  • Assist product compliance engineers to achieve global certifications for our products.
  • Specify engineering requirements, create test plans and generate test reports
  • Provide technical mentoring to manufacturing and field application engineers
  • Ability to technically lead the team & mentor junior engineers.
  • Raise the bar for technical excellence, accurate documentation and scientific rigor
  • Provide subject matter expertise at an advanced level
  • Keen to work in product enhancement and support team for power electronics products
  • Good in IEC, UL, EN, ANSI and other regulatory standards for solar inverter and power electronics products.

 

Who you are and what you bring:

  • B.E. and 12+ years’ experience outside of university or
  • Masters and 10+ years.

Candidates must have:

  • Developing electronic products from the concept stage to market launch in a commercial environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of circuit schematic, PCB layout and simulation tools
  • Practical experience of in-depth bench testing, V&V testing, and debugging of hardware designs.
  • Strong Troubleshooting and problem solving skillset in field quality, Failure and Root cause analysis.
  • Some experience of using Python, Embedded software development, and working in a Test Automation environment.

 

What would make you stand out?

Significant experience in one or more of these areas:

  • Good in Power Electronics circuits which includes power supply and inverter topologies
  • Good understanding of Product validation, compliance and electrical grid standards.
  • Field Quality Improvement and Cost reduction through Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE).
