Job Description

As a Senior Tax Analyst / CT Manager at Illumina in Cambridge, you will be crucial to EMEA tax operations, reporting to the Associate Director - Tax. You'll collaborate with the General Ledger team, local tax advisers, and global tax colleagues to ensure accurate reporting, strategic tax planning, and compliance with evolving regulations. This high-impact role supports Illumina’s growth and innovation, focusing on corporate tax compliance, accounting, strategic planning, and regulatory adherence.

  • Compile UK-specific calculations including RDEC, patent box, and share-based payments
  • Manage CT prepayments to optimize cashflow and leverage discounts
  • Collaborate with General Ledger team on local GAAP tax accounting and US GAAP conversions
  • Partner with local advisers to ensure correct tax treatment of global activities (e.g., FX, employee allowances, R&D)
  • Monitor PE risk and guide business expansion strategies
  • Support global supply chain and structuring projects
  • Ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations, including local files and CbC reporting
  • Respond to tax audits, notices, and information requests
  • Work with internal systems and departments to ensure accurate documentation of tax positions

Sr. Tax Analyst / CT Manager – Cambridge

Onsite 1 day per week (minimum)

The role

As Sr. Tax Analyst / CT Manager here at Illumina, you will play a pivotal role in our EMEA tax operations, reporting directly to the Associate Director - Tax.

You’ll collaborate closely with our General Ledger team, local tax advisers, and global tax colleagues to ensure accurate reporting, strategic tax planning, and compliance with evolving regulations. This is a high-impact role supporting Illumina’s continued growth and innovation across the region.

Why you

You bring direct tax experience in a high-growth environment, ideally with exposure to multinational operations. You are a qualified Chartered Accountant or Chartered Tax Adviser (or working towards it), with a strong grasp of current Corporation Tax laws and anti-tax avoidance legislation such as ATAD and DAC6. Your analytical skills and accuracy are exceptional, particularly in working with large datasets and spreadsheets, and you’re proficient in SAP or similar ERP systems. You thrive in cross-functional collaboration, have excellent communication skills, and are comfortable navigating complex tax scenarios across jurisdictions. Experience with transfer pricing, R&D tax credits, and global structuring projects will be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Corporate Tax Compliance

  • Evaluate feasibility of bringing outsourced CT compliance in-house
  • Monitor PE risk and guide business expansion strategies
  • Support global supply chain and structuring projects

Transfer Pricing & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations, including local files and CbC reporting
  • Respond to tax audits, notices, and information requests

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with internal systems and departments to ensure accurate documentation of tax positions
  • Assist with VAT and employment tax compliance as needed
